ABC News' Amy Walter reports: A new ABC News/Wash. Post poll finds that in a head to head match-up against President Barack Obama, 70% of those who say they are Tea Party supporters say they'll vote for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for president--compared to 69% for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Seeming Tea Party favorites like former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, meanwhile, draw 61% and 60%, respectively....

Trying to pick our candidate again. Does anyone here really believe that Gomer Huckleberry and Myth Romney are more popular than Gov. Palin and Rep. Bachmann among REAL tea party members?

There is no way in hades that Mitty boy is more popular that Palin with true Tea Party members. Mitt is nothing more than an statist rino who the media would LOVE to see up against Obumer in 2012. Given the choice between the two...why not take the real big spender versus spender lite?

Uh, that would likely be a “no.”

I profess to be completely befuddled when I see the people at National Review fawn over Romney. I cannot for the life of me see what Romney has that we need.

And Huckabee... please, no more southern Bible-thumpers posing as “conservatives.”

What a nutty question. Well, in Massachusetts maybe not so nutty. On the Howie Carr Show (conservative), fill in Col. Hunt voted for Obama. Another fill in Michelle McPhee swears she would vote for Hillery before voting for Sarah. Both the fill in donkeys would prefer Romney over Sarah.

If the 'Rat operatives want to get silly here, why go halfway?

Actually, Baraq Obama enjoys more support from the Tea Party than Sarah Palin.
Really.

I seriously doubt that Romney is the first choice of TEA partiers. He certainly isn’t mine.

What may be at play here is that some of the people responding are buying into the “conventional wisdom” - i.e. it could be some of the people actually prefer Palin, but think Romney is nascent/inevitable as the nominee and/or that Sarah can’t win. That could certainly skew the poll numbers a fair bit.

Or it could just be a crappy poll. There’s that, too. :-)

No.

Mormons are sorta like Paulistas. They’re both engaged in worship. Only Ron Paul isn’t from Kolob.

Or it [ABC/WaPo] could just be a crappy poll. There’s that, too. :-)

"An editor is someone who separates the wheat from the chaff and then prints the chaff."

Sure, the quote comes from a DemonRAT (Adlai Stevenson) but that particular blind squirrel did find a nugget with that aphorism.
