The speculation is over; Charles Djou announced Wednesday afternoon that he is running for the same House seat he lost to Colleen Hanabusa last year.
The announcement sets up a rematch of the 2010 race which Hanabusa won.
The former Honolulu city councilman made the announcement with his family and former Hawaii congresswoman Pat Saiki at his side.
Djou also announced that he will be deployed to Afghanistan from Labor Day thru March, when he returns he will continue his campaign.
Some in political circles say Djou's House bid suggests that former Republican Gov. Linda Lingle plans to run for the open Senate seat.

Well, it looks like Linda Lingle will run for the Senate after all. Both she and Djou will have a difficult time, but with them in the running, at least it isn’t hopeless.
I wonder, do we have a better chance at seeing Djou in the House, or Lingle in the Senate?
Well, at least Djou won, so I’d say he seems like a better shot. I don’t know what kind of approvals Lingle left office with, but they must’ve been piss-poor given the paltry % Duke Aiona received for Governor. Wiped out the few Republicans in the legislature, too. Just 1 Republican in the Senate there. Makes Massachusetts look like Idaho.
I think that Linda Lingle has the better chance, but it depends partly on what Colleen Hanabusa does. It’s easier to win an open seat than to unseat an incumbent.
