President Hillary Clinton? If she wants it
CNN ^ | January 26, 2013 | David Rothkopf, Special to CNN

Posted on 01/28/2013 12:46:52 AM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

There are few certainties in American politics. But you can write it down: If Hillary Clinton wants to be the next nominee of the Democratic Party to be president, the job is hers.

Joe Biden, Andrew Cuomo, Mark Warner, Martin O'Malley and the others in the long list of commander-in-chief wannabes will go about their day jobs for the next couple years, but at the back of their minds will be only one question: Will she or won't she?

Because, as the most popular politician in America -- who also happens to be married to America's most popular ex-president and who has in place a nationwide network of donors, campaign staffers and committed supporters -- Clinton has the power to keep potential rivals from raising money or gaining political traction simply by saying, "I haven't decided what my plans are." She's in control.

That she should be in such a position at this moment is a remarkable achievement and an extraordinary testament to her grit, gifts and track record: She has been the most successful U.S. secretary of state in two decades. That outcome was hardly a foregone conclusion when Barack Obama made the bold decision to pick his former primary rival to assume the oldest and most senior post in the Cabinet.

She had, after all, lost a bruising campaign to him, there was tension between her team and his and no reason to assume the two ex-rivals would work together. She had never run a large organization before. Beyond that, the United States was facing massive crises at home and bewildering complexity abroad. Many of the issues she would be facing would be new to her...

Didn't they say the same thing from 2006-2008?

She has been the most successful U.S. secretary of state in two decades.

Depends on what the meaning of "successful," is.

Hopefully we will have a better candidate next time. I just started sending Obama a Reagan video a day from YouTube. By now he’s got about 5 of them in his inbox.. One of them is Reagan talking about social medicine. Hopefully he’s watching them. With any luck we’ll get some conservative action from this WH until we take it back in 2016.

With 'Rat-infested voter fraud, newly-amnestied parasites and the corrupt media, America will have no say in the matter.

The liberals in the media are so predictable. They’re so proud of themselves for helping to elect a minority to be president and now they’re letting it be known they want a woman in next. The Democrats and their media allies are setting the political agenda in this country without any real opposition. The GOP are a bunch of posers who are afraid of their own shadows and they’re just standing by letting the Democrats destroy our great country.

He would never do it, but I sure wish Thomas Sowell would run! The debates would be earth-shaking.

...”He would never do it, but I sure wish Thomas Sowell would run! The debates would be earth-shaking”...

I have read after Dr. Sowell for years. He is one of the most intelligent people on the planet, but the media would try to assassinate his character from day one if he dared to threaten them with his presence in politics.

Depends on what the meaning of "successful," is.

That's all behind her now, last week's fake hearings and the fawning MSM successfully got rid of that baggage.

I predicted that if the hearings successfully connected her and the administration to the ambassador's death then her political career would have been over.

Now we know it's not and Hillary's going to be front and center news till the next election......

As a side note, when was the last time anyone ever heard the term "Maverick" John McCain? We heard that monicker daily for four years but never again since election day 2008.........

“If she wants it”

Because all that matters is being “married” to a “popular” ex-president, being a woman, and having been “successful” as a cabinet member. CNN decides what the words in quotes mean.

But the author is correct. Recent history has proven you don’t need a clear agenda, a voting record that reporters are allowed to examine, or an unquestionable character. All you need is an opposition that isn’t “cool”.

If I felt more confident typing the word annhiliate, I would say that Sowell’s intelligence, wit, and soft nature would annihillate the whole leftist self-destructive bent in this country, if only he could have a little time on the grand-stand.

I have always thought it a tragedy that he is confined to Stanford and to the Creator’s Syndicate. He is MY kind of American.

She can’t pass the physical. I’m not a doctor, but she’s already said she’s had blood clots. She’s been passing out. She admits she’s been on blood thinners. Now, she has double vision. She’s having strokes. Her body is “throwing” blood clots. She is too ill to be President. She’s going to throw a clot that will go to her heart and be the end of her, or go to her brain and paralyze her. All the hoping and wishing in the world isn’t going to change the fact that she’s too sick for the job. We elect someone because we’re pretty sure he/she can do the job for the term. You can’t do that with Hillary.
