The MSM plan for the GOP & Tea Party: Divide and Conquer

Mickey: Stay down, Stay down

Rocky 1974

John Rambo: Live for nothing or Die for Something

Rambo 2008

I was watching Morning Joe today and as usual the entire table was united in asserting that Ted Cruz and the Tea Party caucus was wrong to consider fighting to de-fund Obamacare highlighting a piece by Krauthammer

This is about tactics. If I thought this would work, I would support it. But I don’t fancy suicide. It has a tendency to be fatal.

They stressed the wisdom of Krauthammer’s assertion that the GOP should not fight. It seemed an odd assertion since they had led the show highlighting the Democrats pushing a dodge for their own staffers from the effects of Obamacare

The White House has approved a deal that will exempt members of Congress and their staff from some of the provisions of the Affordable Care Act,

As I watched this dance three things came to mind.

The first was Rush Limbaugh’s oft stated message concerning Third Parties repeated during his Fox interview:

“But there’s no other option. I mean you don’t want to go third party. That just ensures the Democrats are a majority party forever,” he said. “You don’t want to do that. So you have to do what you can to work within the Republican Party and take it over.”

The second was my memory of the Big Tea Party event in DC in September of 2010. There was one question I asked of attendees that still stands out three years later.

“Who here trusts the GOP?” Not a single hand went up, but people over and over promised me that if the GOP spent like the democrats they would be back to throw them out too. No wonder the GOP is scared of the tea party.

Then there was yesterday the Gardner standout that I wrote about here. An admittedly small event but there is a telling picture.

That’s a shot of Richard Bastien former GOP member of the Mass Legislature who attended to highlight Rep Jonathan Zlotnik (who beat him by only 324 votes last time around) but take a look at the two women highlighted in the background.

The woman with her back to the Camera is Mary Lotz, she is a local GOP committee member but long before that she was and remains an active Tea Party activist.

And the young lady she is talking to is Kirsten Hughes. She is the State Chairwoman of the Mass GOP.

It’s a tough thing to try and rebuild a party that has fallen as low as it can get in a state but showing up and lending the weight of the state party in person to a small tax standout far from Boston is symbolically important.

And that’s why the MSM is pushing so hard to keep the Tea Party and the GOP proper far apart, because they remember the lesson of Ronald Reagan that Rush Limbaugh once wrote about:

The real question, in my humble opinion, is that this effort and energy needs to be used, as Ronald Reagan did, to take over the Republican Party, to repopulate it and that’s exactly what Reagan did, he took it away from the Rockefeller blue-blood country club types starting in 1976, took him ’til 1980 to do it. Goldwater did the same thing. Both Reagan and Goldwater could have gone third party, and there’s a temptation here to go third-party, and a lot of people advocating third-party are the personalities that are trying to make this all about them,

Think of the news that is out today, more people leaving the work force and at the same time the Democrats making a deal to protect themselves from the Obamacare law they pushed.

Now me I’m thinking that makes a really good excuse for the GOP to work with the Tea Party senators on this one, even if they can’t force the white house to de-fund Obamacare they can force the Democrats to defend their own special exemption and maybe force them to reverse it. And for the party such an action is critical:

The critics overlook the strongest case for attempting to de-fund Obamacare: namely, that doing so is an urgent political necessity to save a party rapidly losing touch with its voter base.

I disagree, the critics are not overlooking this, they understand this very well and that’s why the Media will do all it can to Isolate people like Ted Cruz and Rand Paul and others. If the GOP unites with the Tea Party they will have the numbers to not only win the midterms in 2014 but to win in 2016.

If not, then watch for a repeat of 2008 and 2012 where conservatives stay home.

GOP it’s up to you.

UPDATE: How can you tell fighting actively against Obamacare is a good move, because the left is reduced to trying to sell it door to door:

For the law to succeed, groups such as Enroll America, whose officials include several veterans of Obama campaigns, will need to cajole millions of Americans, including many healthy ones, to enter the insurance market. It could be a tough sell. Confusion about the law is rampant. The online insurance sites, which open for enrollment Oct. 1, could be tricky. Some people who rarely need medical care might view even low-cost health plans as too pricey.

And while advocates say that knocking on doors is one way to overcome these challenges, skeptics point out that such canvassing, which is modeled on successful political campaigns, is untested for a complex national program such as the Affordable Care Act. It’s also labor-intensive; Botero’s group, Enroll America, expects to talk to each person seven to eight times to encourage enrollment in a health plan.

The left is actively fighting for Obamacare, the last thing they want the right to do is to fight back.

Update 2: NO NO NO! says the MSM we want the tea party to break away from the GOP not challenge establishment republicans within the party

A spokesperson for Republican Nancy Mace, who is already being billed as a Tea Party favorite, confirmed to TheBlaze on Thursday that she plans to challenge Graham for his Senate seat in the 2014 Republican primary. She plans to make a “special announcement” about her run at the Berkeley County GOP Breakfast on Saturday.

Nancy Mace is The first Woman to ever graduate from The Citadel and if she defeats Lindsey Graham would be the first female senator in the History of South Carolina.

For some reason I don’t think the MSM or Morning Joe will find that a compelling story.

O-care won’t be stopped if the R party just folds before even trying

(Dr K is a wonderfully brilliant man and he is often right on the issues or at least worth listening to.... But this is one issue he’s got wrong, imho.)

What's left to divide?

The GOP is just the DNC shadow party now!

Whom they really seek to divide is the TEA party!

and they have essentially folded on this. basically we are told it can’t be done and why waste the effort. the gop leadership says this.

it’s time for an aggressive gop that actually believes in core beliefs and fights like hell no matter what. no more compromise. let dems go apeshit. let the msm go apeshit. they do anyway when they are getting 95% of what they want. who cares. just fight like hell and do everything possible to stop the dems. pass stuff in the house and fight like hell for it in the senate.

this friends across the aisle shiite, nobody’s’buying it on either side and it’s just offensive that we are expected to be dumb enough to believe it.

Such a short and unassuming comment, but it contains the axiomatic truth of what's truly been ailing us for decades now.

The left accepts no deviation from their party ideology. They've staked their flag in a certain position, and demand absolute lock-step fealty to it by their members.

There is no such demand on the right. Instead, the party honchos have fixed our flag on a moveable stand that can be shifted anywhere, at any time.

The very reason for the existence of the Tea Party, is that our party leaders abandoned the party's principles in the first place. No similar movement exists on the left, because they're all of one mind, and united in their push toward their utopian Socialist goals.

How refreshing would it be, if we enjoyed the same type of unity on the right? I can hardly even imagine such a thing. As it is, we have to fight the politicians on the left AND the 'right', because they're in collusion against us.

The strategic GOP top down thinking is being driven by the media. You will hear echoing “working together” and won’t hear of any campaigns designed to reduce or diminish oppposition turnout.

You can see this in the language used. One word never appears from GOPES ,gop elite snob(s) or RINOS and that word is socialist. The other word rarely used is God.

Obama is demonstrating that he and the socialists can whip up the black population to create civil strife should it be necessary if congressional investigating bodies get too close to impeachment time at a moments notice . That includes; Bengahzi, IRS,EPA, MSA, Windgate, solar panel gate, and yet untouched travelgate 2. And congress has gotten the message by treading lightly.

The GOPES certainly won’t call out the regime and media’s hand in this fabrication painting a target on some security guard’s back who was just doing his job which the socialists are using to whip up stife.

mosesdapoet said, “You can see this in the language used. One word never appears from GOPES ,gop elite snob(s) or RINOS and that word is socialist. The other word rarely used is God.”

Now that’s funny, mosesdapoet, because you will never hear that “God” word from the Tea Party, either.

You’re right. The tea party scares them both. But especially the GOP.

As for Rush saying “no third party” and that old “fix it from within” garbage, how about Rush fully get behind the real conservative candidates and call out the gop light. I assume he’s afraid the candidate he endorses will get a whoopin’ and it’ll make him look bad.

The tea party should take out Lindsay Graham and McCain and just threaten the other rhinos privately for now.
