Democrat Terry McAuliffe wins Va. governor's race, Fox News projects

Democrat Terry McAuliffe is projected to win the Virginia gubernatorial race, defeating Republican nominee Ken Cuccinelli in a surprisingly close victory.

Fox News projected McAuliffe as the winner Tuesday night.

The closely watched raced pitted a Tea Party-backed Republican and an establishment Democrat locked in an expensive, ideological battle whose outcome is expected to set a course for the 2014 and 2016 elections -- in large part forcing the GOP to consider whether a strong conservative candidate is the party’s best pick to win a national election.

Cuccinelli, trailing late by single digits, tried unsuccessfully to use voter dissatisfaction with ObamaCare to stage a come-from-behind victory over the better-funded McAuliffe....

Still, I think six months from now in the ever-widening Obamacare scandal, Cuccinelli would've won decisively, don't you think? Look how close it was even with all the factors you described. 2014 is going to be better than 2010, unless the stupid party snatches defeat from the jaws of victory, McCain-style...

How much voter fraud was involved - including illegal aliens voting?

I don’t know but they did purge a bunch of voter registration cards in the last few weeks so probably not too much fraud in this race. It is way too close for that.

Media, liberal schools and the entertainment industry have formed a chaotic and often destructive path. They have helped produced a mass of ignorance.

Same as 2012. 7/10 of the counties vote Republican the other three, more populated vote Dim.

It is always that way. We always have the area where people don’t have large people living in them. We have to find a way to get some city types to vote for us too or we will CONTINUE to lose. I am just pissed that they keep saying Republicans lost tonight. We won overwhelmingly in New Jersey a very blue state.

Funny how the close elections ALWAYS seem to go to the Dem.

Bush in 2000 and 2004 prove your statement is nonsense.

Looks like the Democrats damn near had a clean sweep.
Democrat wins in Virginia and Democrat-Lite wins in New Jersey.
Statehood for North Colorado defeated.
Marijuana tax passed in Colorado.

So far the only Republican or Tea Party win is the DEFEAT of the gutting of the TABOR Amendment in Colorado.

Mcauliffe is the perfect democrat. He's a corrupt scumbag who will lie, cheat and steal to get what he wants. I have nothing but contempt for people who vote for such filth. It looks like America is full of idiots who have piss poor judgment.

Chinagate Scumbag Terry McAuliffe has won in Virginia.

Voters in Va. should be thinking twice now once they realize that Terry McAuliffe was one of the KEY CHINAGATE TRAITORS! McAuliffe was the top fundraiser for Bill Clinton and the DNC (ie. chinese money/chinagate)

As I mentioned on another thread, this is a very bad omen for the 2014 and 2016 elections.

Think of it...with all of the scandals surrounding Obama and the Dems, and the destruction that is Obamacare, the Dem still won!

Sorry, but I truly believe the Republicans are going to get their a$$es handed to them in both 2014 and 2016.

Yes, we should all mindlessly vote for the GOP, who have done nothing they’ve promised anyone for 70 years.

Brilliant thinking.

Wait until Obama gives 15Million illegals amnesty and voting rights.

America is circling the drain.

The GOP should be starting Impeachment proceedings against Obama for his ACA scam, but they are too afraid of losing the next election.

They don’t care about their constituents anymore than Obama does.

The GOP has no Nads.

Only the Tea Party can save this country.
