CD3 GOP Primary: Lonegan Campaign would welcome Palin support (NEW JERSEY?!?)
PolitickerNJ ^ | April 30, 2014 | Max Pizarro

On the same week that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin doubled down on waterboarding remarks she made, the campaign of CD3 GOP Primary candidate Steve Lonegan said it would welcome Palin in to campaign with the movement conservative candidate.

“Darn right I’d do whatever it takes to foil [terrorists’] murderous jihadist plots – including waterboarding,” Palin, a Republican, wrote in a Facebook post Monday night, following up on controversial comments made last weekend at the annual National Rifle Association meeting in Indianapolis. “Well, if I were in charge, they would know that waterboarding is how we’d baptize terrorists,” Palin told the NRA crowd.

The 2008 GOP nominee for vice-president came in last year to back up Lonegan in his unsuccessful campaign for U.S. Senate.

“Of course we'd welcome Governor Palin's support,” Lonegan Campaign Spokesman Tim Kelly told PolitickerNJ this afternoon.

Also asked about Palin and her comments, the campaign of Lonegan’s rival, former Randolph Mayor Tom MacArthur, kept its head down.

“We’re focused on meeting, talking to and winning the votes of people in the district, where we have the support of more than 160 Republican leaders to help us carry our message,” said Campaign Spokesman Chris Russell.

The seat is currently held by Jon Runyan (R).

I know that Steve Lonegan is a conservative. I’m assuming that Tom MacArthur is the GOP establishment’s candidate for this seat.

Jon Runyon, the Republican incumbent is not running for reelection.

We were talking on another thread about how Cruz is being totally omitted from polling articles.

LSM thinks they can ‘ignore’ him out of existence.

Heard Trump on FNC today - he’s a big supporter of Cruz - and it occurred to me Trump/Cruz is a winning team. I have a couple nits to pick about Trump, but most of the rest of America doesn’t.

I think Trump should threaten to run third party if the GOP passes an amnesty bill between now and 2016.

I think Trump should behave as he already is President and corral all the donors around he and Ted. Then force Priebus
to lend support. If no, shred the GOPe. Commission polls that WILL honestly show likely-voter enthusiasm for the ticket.

I like the way you BOTH think ;)

I also love that Steve Lonegan has a spine, unlike the feckless GOPe pols and candidates.

Trump is not a conservative. Period. Why do well meaning people keep falling for his shtick? Donald is out for Donald. He's out to keep his brand in the news no matter what - and of course make lots of money.

Commission polls that WILL honestly show likely-voter enthusiasm for the ticket.

Commission away. There is lots of money available in movement conservative and tea party circles to hire a reliable pollster and do a poll that includes Cruz. Cruz is probably going to run, he is eligible to be President, and his name will be reflected in polls the closer we get to primary season. Right now all we're getting is polls that mostly reflect name recognition, so naturally your getting silly results like Huckabee (who will never be nominated) leading in some polls. It's not some conspiracy.

He’s a financial conservative, Ted is the three-legged conservative.

If I hadn’t seen him on FNC today with solutions, I’d never have entertained this. BUT, he is a total supporter of Cruz.

And the low-infos know Trump, both Rs and Indies.

Steve Lonegan is a conservative.

I've donated to Steve Lonegans campaign, and hope he wins the seat.

He’s a financial conservative

Financial conservative? Trump? Are you kidding?

Trump's donation list is a who's who of Democratic party power brokers including former Senator Hillary Clinton, former Senator John F. Kerry, Rep. Charles B. Rangel, Sen. Charles E. Schumer, the late Senator Ted M. Kennedy, the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee of New York (which he gave $125,000 as of 2011), and the list goes on and on including donations to Harry Reid, $50,000 to Rahm Emanuel's run for mayor, etc, etc.

Trump is so obviously BSing conservatives desperate for an outspoken voice, and yet people keep falling for it over and over and over again. Donald Trump is NOT a conservative. Your not a conservative if you believe in nationalized healthcare such as what exists in Canada, and that is precisely what "the Donald" wrote in his own book.

Trump is for Trump. All he really cares about is keeping his brand in the spotlight. He knows the GOP is rudderless right now so he feeds on that and tells conservatives what they want to hear. If the Democrat party falls into the same rut some years from now, Trump will be out trying to sell them on the idea he's a liberal champion. And when he can't sham conservatives or liberals, he'll be off claiming to be a "no labels" guy who "might" run for President as an independent.

So he was paying-to-play? As a real estate developer? Shocked!

Reagan was a democrat once, too.

I’ll watch this, see how it develops.

Why is Runyon retiring? As he a ‘Moderate Democrat’ (aka RINO)
