Al Gore was technically an Army photojournalist, but had several infantrymen as bodyguards since his father was a prominent senator. I’m not aware of any others. But remember, Teddy Kennedy did his obligatory two year stint in the Army due to the draft, but would you have based your vote on that? Also remember, Ted Cruz is only 43.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

We have NEVER elected someone to the White House who has not held a government position of some kind (elective, appointed, military or a combination, etc.) but we’re going to start now? Mr. Obama wasn’t enough of a neophyte for us? I’m sure Dr. Carson is a nice man and a skilled surgeon, but that is besides the point.
