Very interesting charts and maps at the link. Sorry that my HTML skills aren't sufficient to post the images here (not a simple (img src="") thing).

If what I hear from McCain and Flake there is no doubt they will blow it. That pair could screw up a one car funeral.

Barack the Kenyan has already made amnesty and an open border the “law” of the land. Hopefully, the morons down at the GOP won’t get froggy and do something stupid like passing an amnesty bill through Congress before the election in hopes of getting the Spaniard vote.

I believe it will happen. Now the question is, what does the dog do when it catches the car? And my concern is that while they may have 52 seats, and that dispatches Harry Reid (in itslef a big victory), will they have the fortitude to block all of Obama's remaining nominations to SCOTUS? That is what needs to happen. If Ginsberg steps down, he will appoint someone just as wrong, but aged 39-42 and healthy, so that the problem will linger. The GOP needs to have the fortitude to leave some seats open on the court, until Obama's successor arrives.

I hate so sound like “Sam Breakstone” in the old cottage cheese commercials, but this isn’t good enough. They will need 55 45 to maintain control in 16’ because the will probably loose more next cycle. It’s their own dang fault. They have ticked us off, we ain’t giving, we don’t trust them ( Cochran / MS ) and the did everything they could to only get RINO’s on the ticket. I will pull the lever for our “R” but with no enthusiasm or desire to help her team ( Terry Lynn Land ). The GOP can treat me like crap now and in the future if they want. I don’t have to play dysfunctional and take it, and see where that leads them...

Just enough to control the senate, but not enough to get anything done.

CNN Poll: In North Carolina Senate race, Libertarian could be spoiler

CNN) — In one of the most closely-watched Senate races of the year, incumbent Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan of North Carolina holds a narrow three-point advantage over her Republican challenger, according to a new CNN/ORC International survey.
But the poll indicates that Thom Tillis, the GOP nominee, may be falling behind Hagan because a Libertarian candidate could be siphoning off Republican votes.

Hagan edges Tillis, 46%-43%, while Libertarian Sean Haugh has support from 7% likely voters, according to the poll.
The three-point gap between Tillis and Hagan, however, is well within the poll’s sampling error of plus or minus four percentage points among likely voters, meaning the candidates are about even.

CNN Comments;

The race is one of eight Senate contests that CNN rates as “up for grabs” this fall. As Republicans seek to retake the Senate majority, they consider North Carolina one of their best chances to pick up a Democratic seat.

Politics of fear — how the GOP is using ISIS against Dems
Since Hagan was first elected in 2008, North Carolina has transitioned from somewhat of a purple state to solid red territory. Republicans took the governorship and seized both houses in the state Legislature, and North Carolina was one of two states that voted for Barack Obama in 2008 but Mitt Romney in 2012.

Hagan’s favorable rating is 46%, indicating that everyone who likes her is going to vote for her. But Tillis gets a 47% favorable rating among likely voters, yet only 43% of the vote.

“That suggests that there are voters who would probably choose Tillis in a two-way race but aren’t going to vote for him in a three-way contest,” said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.

While Haugh only has the backing of 7% of voters, his presence in the race could be hugely influential if Tillis ends up losing to Hagan by just a few percentage points.

If patriots hadn't been asleep at the wheel for the last several election cycles then conservatives might be looking at 2/3 supermajority control of both Houses of Congress for 2014. With such a majority Congress would have the constitutional authority to override presidential vetoes; the Constitution's Clause 2 of Section 7 of Article I.

Note that Congress has exercised its power to override vetoes as relatively recently as Bushes 41 & 43, and also with Clinton.

List of United States presidential vetoes

So don't tell me that Congress will never be able to exersise its power to override presidential vetoes.

Maybe for 2016, but I'm not betting anything.

All they need to do is to re-install cloture for appointments. It would take about ten minutes.
