Behind in presidential polls, Ted Cruz surges in fundraising
Market Watch's Capitol Report ^ | July 15, 2015 | Robert Schroeder, Fiscal Policy Reporter

Ted Cruz is way behind in polls about the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. But he’s killing it when it comes to fundraising.

The Texas senator is in eighth place among the GOP White House hopefuls, according to the latest average of polls from RealClearPolitics. But Cruz places third in the money race, when counting his own campaign and affiliated super PACs, behind fellow Republican Jeb Bush and Democrat Hillary Clinton.

On Wednesday, the public got a look at how the campaigns are raising and spending money through the end of the second quarter. As The Wall Street Journal points out, Cruz was the only candidate who launched his campaign early enough to file a first-quarter report. But he hadn’t been a candidate for long; only eight days.

Still, he and his super PAC backers have raised a combined $51 million. That puts him ahead of GOP rivals like Marco Rubio (who’s fourth in the RealClear average) and Ben Carson (fifth).

Bush and Clinton are comfortably in spots one and two for combined candidate-super PAC fundraising....

Here in Texas, one lady has raised more by herself as a bundler for the campaign than many of the lower-rung candidates (such as Lindsey Graham) have raised altogether.

There hasn’t been a debate yet.

Just wait.

We funders understand.

Ted Cruz is way behind in polls about the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.

The race is a marathon, not a sprint.

My fear is that if he is not in a lead position, he won’t make it to the debates. There’s a cut off point, usually based on where the candidates stand in the polls.

So much of this is decided before anyone gets to vote for anything.

If they don't cook the polls to keep Trump and Cruz out.

Then Trump and Cruz would debate eachother, and get better ratings.

This is a marathon, not a sprint. I just gave through my own portal (below) again the other day. We’ll get this done.

Cruz is biding his time until the debates start. And then he’ll blow everybody away and then watch Hillary Clinton realize she’s nowhere near Ted Cruz’s league in terms of debating.

Not the least bit worried here about Ted Cruz. He’s in the background of Donald Trump at the moment but when America needs to hear from the Constitutionalist again which will be soon, Cruz will shine.

When it comes to foundation of this country, there is no one that stands taller than Ted Cruz.

I am really thinking a Cruz/Trump or Trump/Cruz combination is going to be a knockout of the left.

I think saw that FOX News is going to have a 5PM (1 hour) debate by whomever they deem Top Tier candidates, and a 1PM (earlier in the day), 90 minute debate by those not in the Top Tier.

Will be interesting to see which debate gets the most eyes.

The winner is the guy organizing in New Hampshire, Iowa and a couple other early states. the eventaal winner is the guy who is Reaganesque on the future of this country with the guts to back it up.

“He’s in the background of Donald Trump at the moment “

Trump’s people all pretty much default to Ted if and/or when Trump implodes.

And where does Jebbie gain votes, he’s already 100% well known and disliked.

It’s so lame the R primaries start off with blue states.

Why would Hillary worry about debates?
If they’re staged by the MSM as is typical, the R candidate has already lost.

++++
Me too.

But Cruz is running a solid 8th and is well ahead of #9 and #10.

My concern is that Cruz, along with Trump, is the least desirable candidate as seen by the GOP, the MSM and many pollsters. As such the polling cards will tend to be stacked against him. Add this to the fact that Trump has taken away a good percentage of Cruz votes and you can smell the risk of him falling to #11 and missing the debate.

But I remain with fingers firmly crossed and hopeful that it will be OK.

I would guess Cruz would rather be ahead in contributions than in questionable polls at this stage.

After he wins the first debate the polls will reflect it. Anyone here think he’s not the best debater in the pack?

Dough is big.
The big R dough will be Jeb, Cruz, and Trump.
