I have one theory to explain Trump’s conversion on so many issues.

I call it conservatives in the closet syndrome.

I had it, when I was around semi liberal family members, of which there are very few. I would talk much more moderately.

Then I realized why am I embarrassed about choosing traditional marriage and thinking having transgenders in the military is insane etc.

And I owed it to them and myself to be honest And now I am brutally honest :)

Trump had a brand and he’s a smart man. Conservative positions would have absolutely hurt him financially, as we see now.

Perhaps he held his current beliefs all along but did what many popular people do. Lie.

I could be wrong.

Along those lines, I keep my politics in check when I'm in the workplace. I think my co-workers would be shocked if they realized the degree to which I am politically engaged outside of work.

However, politics really should be kept out of business. I've heard more than one CEO state that he would never reveal his political affiliation because why would you want to piss off as much as half your customer base?

So it's easy to see why Trump would play both sides of the fence during his business career. Especially in New York City.

Some of us purists might think that's being phony and a fraud but it's the way it is. When you are a businessman, wearing your politics on your sleeve is not good for business.

Looks like Trump has reached a stage in his life when he is free to be who he really is.
