Cruz Wins MN GOP Straw Poll

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has easily won a straw poll of Minnesota Republican activists.

Cruz finished first among 14 Republican candidates in the poll at the Minnesota GOP State Central Committee meeting Saturday in Monticello.

Cruz claimed 90 votes. That was almost twice the votes for the second-place finisher, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who had 46 votes. Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina came in third.

GOP front-runner Donald Trump finished fourth in Saturday's straw poll, followed closely by Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.

Minnesota is one of a dozen states that will hold a primary or caucus on Super Tuesday March 1.

State GOP chairman Keith Downey says he sees Saturday's vote as an early sign of which campaigns to watch in the coming weeks.

Only Trump has ever done anything conservative in his life. He’s the only one who can do something. The only one.

Huh? Why would you make a remark like that? Most of us don't care to get into a pissing contest that you're trying to initiate. Most of us have respect for both Cruz and Trump, but for different reasons. That is why you see so many "Trump/Cruz" proponents.

Maybe if we put Trump on Google alerts, we could post as many or probably more pro Trump articles than those for Cruz. Cruz or Trump. Doesnt matter. Either will win. But, I commend your posts for the guy you really like.

Of course! Trump knows how to get things done. He has people that get things done. It was a huge victory. The best victory that could be had. No one could have any more victory.

Nope, clearly this is a victory for Cruz, the GOPe and anyone who will make a buck on the Iran deal or TPP.

Trump doesn’t have time for 100 person straw polls. He’s got 10s of thousands waiting in line hours to see him talk for an hour and a half.

This was a poll of party ACTIVISTS. We know that they’re only interested in clinging to control of the Republican Party. It’s a bit dishonest that they were a select group of activists that were polled isn’t included in the title.

I'm a Cruz supporter and don't put much faith in this as an indication of how Republicans feel or will vote.

I've been convening cauci for more than 20 years. I will on 3-1-16.

The people who attend the cauci are not "activists" as described in this straw poll.

I tell everyone who cares to go to Youtube and review any and every activity on Ted Cruz such that time is available, He will assimilate any that listen.

That said, the Republican won't win in Minnesota next November. This is a Democrat state and as corrupt in vote counting as Chicago. The only way a Republican can win a state-wide race is to so overwhelm the Democrat to make it useless for Democrat Party Chairs to pull up their trunks full of pre-completed ballots amazingly found later.
