Trump to Nevada delegates: I'll pay your travel, hotel costs
The Washington Examiner ^ | April 17, 2016 | David M. Drucker

Posted on 04/17/2016 5:07:39 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Donald Trump's campaign is going all out to win delegates in Nevada, offering to cover transportation and lodging costs for Nevada supporters who travel to Reno in mid May to participate in delegate elections.

Trump's Nevada activities contradict his claim that he has deliberately declined to invest resources in the election of delegates to the Republican nominating convention in Cleveland because the process is "corrupt."

"With overwhelming success throughout each county, we're in a strong position going into the state convention being held in Reno on May 14th and 15th," Charles Munoz, Trump's Nevada state director, wrote in an email to the billionaire's grassroots supporters. "We'll also be announcing training's, lodging and transportation opportunities for delegates within the next couple days."

Ted Cruz, Trump's closest competitor, has run circles around the reality television star in delegate elections across the country. The Texas senator has installed loyalists on convention delegations that are prepared to vote flip to him once unbound from their obligation to support the candidate that won the caucus or primary in their state....

With all due respect, please Mr. Trump, now is not the time to exercise frugality. PLEASE SPEND whatever it takes to lock up your nomination. You lay the claim to be a WINNER. Your country needs you to lay everything on the line, financially, to secure the keys to the White House. You have been operating on a shoestring as far as running for POTUS is concerned, but the time for pinching pennies and doing it on your dime has passed. There are roughly 90 days to seal this DEAL. I will even look the other way if you decide to accept larger donations and publicly solicit megabucks.
BTW, I hope Mr. Trump is liquid enough to sway enough delegates!!

It’s like you have to run 2 campaigns, one for the Primary elections and a separate one for the delegate elections (nominations). Ridiculous. And the general population or non political insiders, had no idea, and why would we? So very few are experts on the arcane and varied state delegate rules. This whole crooked deal is so slimy, and the GOPe are the champions of this power play. They’ve stacked the deck, and are smug and superior about it. Of course the whole of the MSM that would love to see Trump bite the political dust, and all the Dems who also have a totally stacked deck with their super delegates, all STINK BIG TIME. No Trump win, no Pub vote on my part. If Trump goes 3rd Party, I go with him. Or I write in Donald J. Trump for Prez. Or I stay home. I’ll choose my own poison, thank you.

Oh, I read that sentence you posted. My point is that the quote from the director doesn’t confirm this.

I looked to see if the email and/or offer allegedly sent out was included in this *report*, but I couldn’t find it.

Cruz wants to buy votes, OK, let’s buy votes!

Never piss with someone that can buy ink by the barrel or hookers by the dozen.

One way to see if an claim like the one made in the headline is actually true or an editor juicing up a story line is; if the headline as stated is in the article as a quote...

In this case, the headline is completely made up to make it look like Trump is doing something he isn’t and possibly illegal...

It does not say the campaign will pay for training, lodging and transportation. If it is like previous information, it will arrange for car-pooling if necessary, where the training is and closest lodging and prices. I was actually thinking more, from the Cruz campaign.

Trump is learning, whichever it came from.

For the record, I don’t know of the Cruz campaign paying for any delegates expenses. I don’t know of any PACs doing it. Some of the wealthier county parties (few and far between) discuss paying expenses for local delegates as a matter of county pride.

The Cruz campaign does not shoot through money like John Ellis Bush did, but is rich in committed conservatives and knowledgeable people and lots of prep work done state by state. Trump could have an army here in Georgia if he organized them better. Some of his people came as guests, they didn’t come to the Mass Meeting, or the county convention, so they didn’t go to the state convention.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I’ve actually followed FR for many years through 4 presidential election cycles now—it’s the most comprehensive one-stop site and I appreciate all the valuable information.
It’s also am absolute joy right now to find such strong support for Donald Trump’s campaign here on FR. I feel like I’m part of vast network of Trumpsters on Trump Train 2016.
Just for the record, I’m almost 56 yrs old and registered as a democrat in high school in my native Maryland. I have supported both dems and reps. However, Mr. Trump is the first (republican) candidate who compelled me to change my party affiliation!! I eagerly look forward to next week when I can cast my ballot for the man who I believe with all my heart can truly Make America Great & SAFE Again!! Thanks again for the kind welcome. It’s an honor to post here on FR!

Het 2DV, how come you haven’t answered the question of why you posted in 2010 that Obama was ineligible because his father was a Kenyan, but Cruz isn’t even though his father is a Canadian?

Or are you a racist?

No it isn't.

Candidates can pay a delegate’s convention expenses

"Experts agree that candidates can pay a delegate’s convention expenses, including airfare, hotel, parties and meals. These can be lavish, since there are no specific rules limiting this. It’s unclear whether a spouse’s expenses can also be paid -- the delegate would have to claim their partner is “integral” to their delegate duties, experts said."

"Delegates can’t receive any gifts from corporations, labor organizations, foreign nationals or businesses, or government contractors, according to Federal Election Commission rules. Individual delegates do not have to report gifts or money they receive, but they may have to report if they’re acting as a group to a delegate committee."
