Will 'What is Aleppo?' transform presidential race? (Gary Johnson)
CNN ^ | September 8, 2016 | Frida Ghitis

"What is Aleppo?" It is many things, but let's hope among them that it is the turning point in a presidential campaign that has until now been dangerously dismissive of the crucial decisions the next US president will face the second they step into the Oval Office.

In a campaign season where shocking moments have come all too frequently, the Aleppo question was another stunner. It happened Thursday morning, on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." It was a shocking exchange between the Libertarian presidential candidate, Gov. Gary Johnson, and one of the show's panelists, Mike Barnicle.

Barnicle: "What would you do if you were elected about Aleppo?"

Johnson: "About...?"

Barnicle: "Aleppo"

Johnson: "And what is Aleppo?"

Barnicle: "You're kidding."

Johnson: "No."

Barnicle proceeded to explain that Aleppo is a city in Syria at the center of that country's civil war. Johnson replied, "Got it," and with that he declared that "With regard to Syria I do think it's a mess." He went on to explain his views on the country, but at this stage it was all pointless. Who cares what Johnson thinks about Syria now? He knows nothing about it. His opinion is meaningless.

And he's disqualified from becoming president....

98% of his supporters don’t know what an ‘Aleppo’ is either - call it a wash...

They must be reading the polls showing Johnson hurting Clinton more than Trump.

just a theory..
his financial angel (probably Soros) was hoping he’d help defeat Trump but instead he’s pulling more votes away from HilLiary (logical... he has a lot of far leftist/stateist views and of course he’s pro- pothead)

so....
he was told to Take A Dive

just a theory

They’re going to try to pull this kind of gotcha on Trump, during the debates, I imagine.

I think it captures Johnson’s befuddlement better if the quote is presented as “What is a leppo?”.

Sad.

Well, 98% of Hillary’s voters think Benghazi is a doctor in Queens.

Dear Mike Barnicle and Frida Ghitis,

What about Ouagadougou?

I do not want a president who can spout action plans for any place on earth at the drop of a hat. I want a president who will, after conferring with subject matter experts and his wise advisers, make a sound, reasoned decision.

BTW. Mike & Frida, you’ve fallen into the usual trap of the “gotcha” merchants. It is not a matter of having the ‘correct’ answer to your question; the crucial element is asking the correct question.

In ths case, Aleppo is not the core issue, Islam is.

thanks. (just the way it looks is all...... the way things are done so secretly and then covered up nowadays in our politics, we may never be given any proof of this... but it does seem the very best possible explanation right now and it fits the situation perfectly and it matches Soros’ Modus Operendi To A T, too)
so it sure looks like a darned good bet!

It’s a stupid question, anyway. The appropriate answer would be “I should hope that that issue will have been addressed by the time I take office”.
