Bernie Sanders: It Would Be ‘An Outrage’ If Donald Trump Prosecuted Hillary Clinton

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said Thursday it would be an “outrage” if President-elect Donald Trump followed through with threats to prosecute Hillary Clinton over her use of a private email server as secretary of state.

“It would be almost beyond comprehension to think that a new president would be involved in the prosecution of his opponent who ended up getting some 2 million more votes than he did,” Sanders told reporters at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast.

“It would completely divide this country. It would be an outrage,” he said. “I would hope very, very, very much that Mr. Trump understands that is not something he should do.”

Trump regularly attacked Clinton on the campaign trail for the FBI probe into her email use, vowing during the second presidential debate that he would instruct his attorney general to investigate her over it. The FBI concluded there was no intentional wrongdoing and recommended no criminal charges, but that didn’t stop Trump’s criticisms.

Rudy Giuliani, whose name has been floated for a potential attorney general or secretary of state under Trump, suggested as recently as this week that the president-elect still might take legal action against Clinton....

Of course it would be an outrage. Not as much as what Hillary did to deserve it, but . . .

At his July 5 press conference, FBI Director James Comey etched our worse fear in stone:

Yes, there is bias in law enforcement favoring the rich and powerful. We are no longer a nation of laws and Lady Justice no longer wears a blindfold. If our laws apply equally to everyone, Hillary HAD to be prosecuted for her mishandling of classified information. But she wasn’t.

Hillary has (seemingly) been polite to Trump since the election. And I could make several arguments why a grandmother could justifiably be excused.

Except for that one sticky point. The laws MUST apply equally to all or they do not apply to anyone. She must be prosecuted. No exceptions.

>>Good thing Trump never would. It would be the FBI or the Congress.<<

I hope Trump fires Comey’s rear. I've heard that he cannot, that Comey has a term to serve and that he still has a couple of years remaining.

Anyone else here this or conformation of it?
