Reagan was pretty good too believe me. Unfortunately in the years that followed the GOPe allowed the Rats to denigrate every thing he accomplished until it was gone. Trump can be Reagan 2.0 if he keeps it up.
Reagan made a mistake agreeing to take on GHW Bush as his VP, that led to what he built being dismantled. He should have insisted on Paul Laxalt, the guy he really wanted.
