The moment Hillary Clinton was forced to give up her dream (Feel-good story of the day)
The New York Post ^ | April 30, 2017 | Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes

Every detail was designed to mark Hillary Clinton’s moment in history — from the glass ceiling at Manhattan’s Javits Center, where her supporters were gathered, to her and hubby Bill’s suite at The Peninsula hotel, selected so she could personally see Trump Tower, home to the foe she was set to crush. Then came the voter returns. In this exclusive excerpt from their fascinating new book “Shattered,’’ political reporters Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes take readers inside Hillary Clinton’s world on the night that changed her life — and the nation — forever.

Hillary’s communications team decamped to the Javits Center in the Hell’s Kitchen section of Manhattan, where preparations for her victory party were being made. The venue, which would fill with Hillary aides, donors, friends and well-wishers over the course of the day, was chosen in large part because of its distinctive feature: a glass ceiling. If everything went as planned, it would be the glass ceiling of the presidency that lay shattered under Hillary by the end of the night.

A handful of key aides remained in the campaign’s Brooklyn headquarters for Election Night, but the top brass, including [campaign manager] Robby Mook, John Podesta, and Cheryl Mills, joined Hillary and Bill Clinton on their floor at the top of The Peninsula hotel, a five-star facility a block from Trump Tower. The Clintons had their own suite, and the rest of the floor had been rented out for staff workspace and for aides, including Podesta and Abedin, to have private bedrooms.

At the start of the night, the Javits Center was electric: it had the buzz of a debut performance on Broadway. Outside, a seemingly endless line formed down 40th Street, near artists who had sketched Hillary’s portrait next to Obama’s and vendors who sold buttons....

That video never fails to totally creep me out. Especially the way that everybody around her is acting totally bored.. like they have been through this drill before.

Thanks.

A friend who hadn’t watched television for over a decade (no kidding) was shocked when he finally got cable; the last time he’d watched, they at least pretended to be impartial and honest. They don’t even maintain a façade anymore; it is open warfare.

I didn't even look at election returns until about 1 in the morning. For some reason, I'd taken the day after the election off work, so it meant I could stay up late. I was just stunned as I saw each state called for Trump, and about 4 in the morning, when the media finally gave up and called PA for Trump, giving him the Electoral College win, I just started hooting and hollering!

I'm glad I wasn't at work, because it would have been difficult for me to contain my excitement. I learned from a couple of folks that it looked like someone had died, because there are so many libs, and they were just crushed. One of my friends told me, the day I returned, that the Manager had sent out an e-mail the day after the election, reminding folks that politics wasn't an acceptable topic, because of the possibility of arguments among fellow employees.
