PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - A crowd of people lined both sides of Camelback Road Wednesday evening, protesting outside the offices of Arizona Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake.
"I don't regularly come to protests, but I hope they pay attention and hear us," Martha McCoy of Mesa said.
President Donald Trump's firing of FBI Director James Comey prompted the protest.
"Somebody needs to stand up. If enough people protest, maybe something will be done about this," Larry Brusuelas said.
He and the others held signs, demanding an independent prosecutor be appointed to look into possible ties between members of the Trump campaign team and Russia.
"It's a chance for Republicans to step up and choose country over party lines," Ashley Parker said.
McCain renewed his calls for a congressional panel to investigate.
Flake, in a tweet, said he was unable to find the rationale for Comey's firing.
"It's important we come out so senators know we care about the issues and we want an independent prosecutor," Cory Engle said.

Soros again
McCain will fold like he did at the Hanoi Hilton.
The only way FlakeyMcQueeg could ‘stand up to Trump’ any more than they do is if they shot him.
These protesters sure are dumb critters.
Are these idiots for or against Comey getting fired before or after the demanded Comey be fired? I just can’t keep track of lieberals.
i notice that McCain isn’t calling for an independent investigation.
He wants a Congressional one, so he and his cronies can steer the investigation away from himself and others in the Establishment that were/are complicit in trying to take down Trump with this Russia crap
“Flake, in a tweet, said he was unable to find the rationale for Comey’s firing.”

“I don’t regularly come to protests, but I hope my pay for coming to this one includes chicken nuggets on the bus ride back”
From her Facebook page: "I'm going to March in the People Climate March in Phoenix on Saturday April 29th at 9:00 am at the Arizona State Capitol in Phoenix. I'd love to see this march as big as the Women's March last January..."
Note to all. We spy on every nation. We influence other nations business, infrastructure, technology, and political events including elections. Other nations do the same. Get over it.
Snowflakes 4 Flake
I notice it didn’t say how many people were in attendance so I am going to assume, less than a dozen?
I think the reporter named them all. He probably took them to McDonald’s afterward in his Prius.
Maybe two dozen people.
All of whom believe the lies told by the Clinton campaign.
They’ve already made anti Trump and pro Comey statements I believe.
If Trump had fired Comey as soon as he took office (Jan 21st), the Dems and the RINOs would have been screaming to high heaven that Trump was trying to avoid persecution (not a typo).
The Dems anguish that Obama told Trump not to hire Flynn - but Obama told the world he didn’t pay Iran, either. Obama told a lot of lies - including where ‘refugees’ would be settled. How was Trump to believe him? Why didn’t Clapper or Comey or anyone else go to Trump at any time during the candidacy?
The Dems cry that Trump should have vetted Flynn. But that’s the FBI’s job. Why didn’t Comey deny Flynn’s security clearance if he was already certain Flynn was compromising security?
Trump let it play out, until we came to the point where Comey admitted that his agency found no link to date of collusion or communications between Trump and the Russians (after 2 years or more surveillance, mind you). And Clapper stating that there were no collusion discovered by his agency’s investigation either (during those same two years).
In fact, Clapper’s testimony this week was remarkable in that he not only set the record straight there were never ‘17’ agencies investigating the President, but 3, and none of them had a shred of anything in hand. All their eggs were in the hypothetical basket of Trump possibly doing something in the future they might finally be able to trip him up on. Except the Presidency isn’t a federal prison. And wishes aren’t due process.
It was time to fire Comey. And it’s time to get to the meat and potatoes of the corruption and doubledealing in The Swamp - including why Russia is being singled out when Mexico was allowed, at the invitation of the DNC, to blatently interfere in our elections to the degree they did - including inciting riots - without a peep from the FBI or Clapper or demand for sanctions from the DNC.
Complete with long lying nose.
The “protestors” give Senator McCain cover to do what he wants to do anyway, persecute President Trump about Russia, which makes the “protestors” suspect.
