Parscale denies help from Russia on Trump digital campaign

San Antonio digital strategist Brad Parscale denied that the work he did on President Donald Trump’s campaign was intertwined “in any way shape or form” with alleged Russian operatives to use social media to influence the election.

“Absolutely not,” Parscale said on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum” Tuesday. He emphasized that the Trump campaign got the data it used here in America.

“In the United States, we actually have access to some of the best data, and the data we used on this campaign directly came from the Republican National Committee, and what they did after the 2012 election to build a data set like never seen before,” Parscale said. “We didn’t need data, we didn’t need it from anyone else, it was right here in the United States of America, and the best data is right here.”

Former FBI Special Agent Clint Watts told Congress in March that computer “bots” were used to repost false information on social media to influence the U.S. election.

Computer bots are software applications that run repetitive functions. During the campaign season, bots allegedly linked to Russia pushed information on Twitter and other social media in an attempt to manipulate the presidential election.

Parscale, who ran Trump’s digital operations during the campaign, didn’t address in his interview on Fox News whether or not his firm used bots as part of Trump’s online strategy. The web director of Giles-Parscale in San Antonio didn’t respond to a request for comment from the Express-News.

The FBI’s wide-ranging criminal investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election may include scrutiny of the Trump campaign’s San Antonio-based digital operation led by Parscale, and overseen by senior White House adviser Jared Kushner, CNN reported last week.

The cable news channel said the FBI is looking at the campaign’s 2016 data analytics programs conducted largely out of San Antonio under Parscale’s direction. In looking at possible ties with Russia, the FBI has collected data on computer bots that pushed negative information on Hillary Clinton and positive information on Trump, the cable network reported.

“The other side wants to believe this false narrative because they don’t want to believe their candidate was so bad that this is even possible,” Parscale said Tuesday. “And the truth is that data was already there, and we just used it to beat a bad candidate with a great candidate.”

When asked too about Kushner’s involvement in the probe, Parscale said that while he doesn’t talk much to Kushner about policy, he can speak to Kushner “the man.”

“He’s highly intelligent, cares about this country and is truly a loving person,” he said on Fox News. “It’s the hardest thing for me to almost watch this because I really like the man.”

So what? What part of any of this, especially the use of bots, is illegal?

I've never seen a single example presented of one of these bot generated Tweets the Russians supposedly influenced the campaign with. According the MSM, there were hundreds of thousands of them, yet every article written about them never seems to provide an actual example.
