In June, Tennessees Republican Attorney General Herbert H. Slatery III signed a letter demanding that President Donald Trump end DACA, a program that allows undocumented individuals brought to the United States as children to live and work here legally. Nine other Republican attorneys general, as well as one GOP governor, joined the ultimatum, which informed Trump that if he did not kill DACA by Sept. 5, the coalition would sue to block it in court. Trump says he will announce his decision on Tuesday. On Friday, however, Slatery publicly withdrew his demand and instead urged Trump to keep DACAand to work with Congress to protect young undocumented immigrants.
Slatery announced his reversal in a letter to Tennessees two Republican senators, encouraging them to pass legislation that would codify DACA into law. (President Barack Obama created the program through an executive order.) While Slatery maintained that DACA constitutes illegal presidential overreach, he went on to explain that [t]here is a human element to this ... that is not lost on me and should not be ignored. He continued:
Many of the DACA recipients, some of whose records I reviewed, have outstanding accomplishments and laudable ambitions, which if achieved, will be of great benefit and service to our country. They have an appreciation for the opportunities afforded them by our country.
At this time, Slatery concluded, our Office has decided not to challenge DACA in the litigation, because we believe there is a better approach.
The attorney general joins House Speaker Paul Ryan and Sen. Orrin Hatch in exhorting Trump to maintain a program that, not too long ago, he condemned as unlawful and impermissible.....

As a Tennessee resident, I’m ashamed of this AG’s reversal.
In fact, I am outraged. You can bet it came down from our RINO
Governor, Haslam. The
There are no Republicans any more, it would appear.
Gee I wonder where California stands?
He must have caught the Corker disease...
Another politician who ‘grew’ in office.
I wonder what his price was?
Bingo! And who wrote the check?
t's not like we're going to hunt them down....but let them step out of line and away they go. They are entitled to nothing.
Well, who cut him a check?
Kill it! It an unconstitutional exec order by the Anmerica-hating Clown Dunce nobama. Kill it and drive a stake through its heart.
The entire GOP leadership in Congress has been lying to the base for decades. They are all RINOS that are bought and paid for Chamber of Commerce whores!
Bunch of frauds.
You can bet it came down from our RINO
Not necessarily. AGs tend to be very politically ambitious. This one is most likely just feathering his own nest in preparation for a run at higher office.
Sure, Slate, sure
So he is just like Paul Ryan who previously stated his opposition to DACA saying it is unconstitutional.
The real globalists are being uncovered.
This is why I hate the delays. It gives opposition time to mobilize. It happened in Texas with the keep the dudes out of the girls bathrooms bill.
It almost happened with the Paris Climate “Treaty” but Trump hung tough let’s hope he does it again.
Soros and others have a lot more money to offer than a mere attorney general can hope to make in a lifetime.
You can damn well bet it wasn't Trump. That withdrawal has demdoummie written all over it.
“I wonder what his price was?”
That’s what came to my mind right away. Or what he’s being blackmailed with.
