President Donald Trump is more popular with likely voters than he is with the general public, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll that underscores why Republican lawmakers have largely stuck with the polarizing president despite his plunging approval ratings.
The poll, released on Wednesday, shows he polls better among people who voted in the 2016 presidential election than with the overall U.S. adult population a group that includes both voters and non-voters. Only about 60 percent of the voting-age public took part in last years election.
In October, for example, 44 percent of 2016 voters said they approved of Trumps performance in office, compared with 37 percent of the general population. Among Republicans, 82 percent of voters approved of Trump in October, compared with 75 percent of all Republicans. (Graphic: http://tmsnrt.rs/2zoIC1A)
Some 85 percent of those who voted for Trump in 2016 said they would do so again, the poll found....

As long as he sticks with the citizens and the rule of law, we will stick with him.
Trump has critics that find he is doing too much and others who are disappointed that he can not do enough, fast enough.
Honest to goodness, one recent poll used against Trump by the media polled “people”. Not voters, not adults, not citizens, but simply people. 10 year old illegal Mexicans at McDonalds are people.
Yes, but if you poll the residents of Brooklyn you’ll find Trump loses to Biden 95-5.
its another stupid poll. The same “method” they used that resulted in Hitlery winning. Unbelievable.
Contrary to what the dimmocrats say, Trump is NOT either a dictator of a king.
Trump can not pass laws all by himself. The swamp has republican elites like McCain, Bushes, McConnell, Flake, Sasse, and many others who are never Trumpers AND promoters of the cheap labor express of ONE MILLION LEGAL immigrants of low skills and low wealth EVERY YEAR.
The swamp is huge. 10 months has barely made a dent in it.
“Only about 60 percent of the voting-age public took part in last years election.”
THIS should be where the REAL outrage lies! If you’re too lazy to do your ONE lousy CIVIC DUTY then, Shame On You, your Forty-Percenters!
FYI, my latest voter registration stats for PA, FL, NC, IA, AZ, NV, NM posted on my twitter feed.
Precisely. And these authors always conflate those two reasons into a single “Trump is unpopular” conclusion. Put me into the “not enough nor fast enough” camp.
Put me in the “isn’t allowed by the “GOPee” Camp”...
Hopefully Trump is still getting his bearings as to where there may be any firm land in the DC Swamp before he starts taking on all comers.
Do you mean this?
“In NO state Trump won have Ds made up any ground. They’ve lost in all, esp. AZ, NC, FL, and PA.”
You are probably right. He’s smart enough to u spderstand the limits of doability given all the embed leftovers.
Yep. PA now as I recall net 104,000 R gain since Nov. FL margin grows every single month.
Ya think.
Many, many polls are only surveying adults(not registered or likely voters).... Gallup, CBS, Reuters, IBD/Tipp, etc.

I do not “Approve” of his performance.
Specifically, I do not approve of his performance on immigration, which is THE existential issue for Conservatives, since 80% of new immigrant citizens vote for the Democrat Party.
I'm glad that Trump has cracked down on criminal immigrants, reduced the number of alleged “refugees” being admitted, and jawboned a significant number of illegal immigrants to stop trying to walk across the border.
On the other hand:
Trump has not (and will not) revoke DACA, which is actually two DACAs, one for kids, and one for parents, and will total close to 2 million people.
No action on universal E-Verify, which is now linked to DACA Amnesty.
No meaningful reduction in LEGAL immigration, which has averaged 1 million a year for the last 10 years.
No reduction in the number of LEGAL “temporary” foreign workers in the USA, which crushes the wage and salary scale for home grown American workers.
No increase in workplace raids against employers who hire illegal immigrants.
No meaningful legal or economic action against Sanctuary Cities.
Bottom Line: Trump will be the last Republican president in the 21st Century, and maybe the last GOP president ever.
How about Buckeye state?
Can’t track: no party id registration.
