Well somewhat.

I come from a farming family ... I’m the only one who left Ventura County. Farmers are largely in Central CA and are very Republican, As was my family. Farmers overall are Conservative and California has lots of farmers! But, they have been overwhelmed by Hispanics everywhere ... esp urban areas.

To the south of L.A. is Orange County. It used to be all Republican, mainly white and Asian but not anymore. Fewer whites and many Asians who are turning Democrat. This was addressed by Tucker Carlson lately that Dems are targeting Asians big time as they have money and are often conservative ... but that is changing.

There is NO ... repeat NO Republican presence in the state. Why is the national Republican Party not stepping in?

The Republicans don’t care about CA anymore than they care about NY or NJ! They’ve got theirs and we can go to hell. And, yes, many poor Asians are coming to this country and they will vote Dem for the freebies.

California, to me, was a paradise. Still a most beautiful state but being destroyed. I have sympathy for you.

Let me go out on a limb to say the Republican Party has split between religious and anti-abortion folks and religious/non-religious and pro-choice folks.

California coast is not the same as inland. Urban Republicans tend toward Laissez-Faire, small government no longer heralded by party brass. R’s could take back the blue coastal states by emphasizing smaller government, anti-socialist views and recognize they will never win again without the former R Independents like me. I know this is not going to be a popular viewpoint here but as someone who grew up urban Dem, moved to a rural county and voted for Ford, not Reagan, I feel the party left me.

Before Reagan, the party did not make private matters such as belief in God or abortion a litmus test. Republican Pols on the West Coast no longer fit the mold of a Dixie Lee Ray or a Chris Cox. It’s time the party realize that a principled message which appeals to all potential R voters and refuses to be politically correct (like President Trump) is the key to victory.
