Three days later, he told The Associated Press it was time to join up. He's now the only major-party Senate candidate in the nation to be a dues-paying democratic socialist.
Ringelstein's leap is the latest evidence of a nationwide surge in the strength and popularity of an organization that, until recently, operated on the fringes of the liberal movement's farthest left flank. As Donald Trump's presidency stretches into its second year, democratic socialism has become a significant force in Democratic politics. But the millenials see nothing wrong with socialism. They have been taught well that Capitalism is evil. Socialism as the alternative is just another option.....with no regard for the tens of millions of dead people and untold sorrows it has left in its wake.

These people are not “democratic socialists”.
Democratic Socialism is a largely defunct European model that held sway in much of Europe from the end of WW2 through the two thousands. Democratic Socialists were still nationalists.
The folks we have running for office now don’t believe in borders or national sovereignty. They are globalists as well as socialists.
Global Socialism was a term used interchangeably with Communism throughout the cold war. The two are still synonymous.
Or International Socialists, to differentiate them from National Socialists.
The commies are selling socialism to the millenials like a pedophile coaxes a child into his car with candy.

The Democrat party is pretty much toast.
Democrats are now so fixated on eliminating Trump in an impeachment frenzy for the 2018 election that they have no serious candidates to challenge Trump in 2020. I expect the election this fall will not give Democrats the edge to seriously proceed with impeachment and leave them leaderless going into 2020. The only excitement is these new socialist darlings. However, while some millennials might get excited by socialism just like the young crowd flocked to McGovern’s anti VietNam war movement it will not carry them to the White House in 2020. Remember McGovern lost to Nixon in an election blow out.in 1972.
This is pretty misleading. He may be the only "candidate" presently, but both houses of Congress have been full of them for quite a long time.
I got a dose of that from a high school teacher. She claimed it was evil to be rich. And that was in 1970. Imagine how bold they must be now.
