If you don't have anything nice to say, should you really say it on Twitter?
Especially when it's about the first lady. And compares her to a prostitute.
"Did you know the First Lady works by the hour? #thinkdirty #hoebag," Mark Roberts, an Oregon Independent running for U.S. Congress, tweeted Monday night.
This kind of Twitter behavior displayed by Roberts is not new. He has a history of tweeting provocative replies and suggestive comments about women, including lawmakers and other public figures.
We've included them at the end of this article.
But Roberts sparked particular criticism Monday in his reply to a tweet from Turning Point USA President Charlie Kirk, who'd compared former first lady Michelle Obama's staff numbers to those of her successor, Melania Trump.
"Did you know:
There are thirty-nine fewer staffers dedicated to The First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS) than under Obama.
There are only five staffers dedicated to Melania Trump vs. forty-four staffers who served Michelle Obama," Kirk said.
The numbers -- which did not cite any source and were reported in January at 12 for Trump and 24 for Obama -- may be interesting in and of themselves, but they did not garner as much attention as Roberts' reply.
Jim Moore, a political science professor at Pacific University, said this may be the most attention Roberts will get all election cycle because he has no chance of unseating the nine-time incumbent in the 2nd Congressional District race, Rep. Greg Walden. He hasn't raised money or reached out to voters like he needs to....
