A voice crying in the wilderness is supposed to be ignored, not rewarded with accolades and growing influence.
Bernie Sanders is the prophet with honor in his own party. The former socialist gadfly is now the socialist trendsetter. At the moment, he has to be counted among the most successful ideological leaders in a generation in terms of moving the terms of the American political debate and putting previously discounted ideas on the agenda.
This doesnt mean that hell be the next Democratic nominee for president, or even run. It doesnt mean that his ideas are good (I personally consider them godawful). It does mean that when it comes to domestic policy on the left, its Bernies world, and the rest of the Democrats live in it.
Sanders was an irrelevance for a couple of decades in Congress. He ran for president to get a higher profile, and succeeded not merely in that, but in seriously challenging Hillary Clinton. He is now a pacesetter in the party, while she rues what might have been....

Missing barf alert.
The knee is the Achilles heel of the leg.
They mis-spelled Balaam.
I just got a mental image of Hillary cackling, “Bring me Bernie’s head on a platter!”
Hillary demanded his head on a plate. So to speak
Lowry can’t get any lower, by this false comparison of Bernie with the man that Jesus said was the greatest ever born of woman.
Or Simon the Sorcerer.
The big difference between John the Baptist and Bernie is that John stopped preaching after he lost his head.
But to be more correct it should be Hillary whispering to Chelsea to insist on the head on a platter. That still could happen in a commie Democrat purge or even a pogrom.
Who is Bernie preparing the way for? That is why God called John to a ministry, to prepare the way for Jesus, as anyone who has read the Gospels can tell you.
But seriously, John the Baptist would never have even hinted that people should violate God’s Law. As succinctly stated in the Ten Commandments, two of the Ten directly relate to the sanctity of private property, that being the Commandment that forbids coveting and the one that forbids theft.
Socialism, by its very nature is based in coveting the assets of one class of people and transferring them to another class. If the real John the Baptist were asked about the social ills that socialists like Bernie seek to remedy, he would have said that any system that violates the Commandments is based in sin and thus evil.
Look, the entire four books of the Bible (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) that make up the Gospel are shorter and easier to read than 50 Shades of Grey. Yet it seems that Progressives in the media just cannot bring themselves to read the Gospels and honestly talk about what is in them.
Hasn’t he got about three houses now?
And I’m sure he wears a hair shirt and lives on locusts and wild honey.
Everyone needs a break from living in the wilderness and nice homes probably weren’t affordable then either.
Reckon I can’t argue that point...
Home run.
You misspelled Judas Iscariot.
When Mary, the sister of Lazarus, anointed Jesus with costly perfume just days before the crucifixion,
Judas Iscariot lectured her and said, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor?”
Notice that Judas Iscariot put on a show of caring for the poor - even though the money was Mary’s, not his!
The motives of Judas, John 12:6 tells us, were corrupt and self-centered - and Jesus responded with a stinging rebuke.
“This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.” - John 12:6
Sounds more along the line of 3-home owner, Bernie Sanders, than John the Baptist.
