FORT DRUM, N.Y. (WCAX) President Trump is visiting New York's North Country today as part of a trip to Fort Drum.
Congresswoman Elise Stefanik in a tweet invited the president to Fort Drum last week. The past three presidents have all visited the post.
As part of the visit, the president will sign a defense spending bill. No other stops are listed in in itinerary.
Air Force One is expected to land at 1 p.m. in Morristown. The President will then head to Wheeler-Sack Army Air Field in Fort Drum.
Our Kelly O'Brien will have the latest on the president's visit tonight on the Channel 3 News from 5-7 p.m.
I live in Rome, just down the street from Griffiss Airbase, which is where he’s probably going to land. I had a doctor’s appointment in Utica this afternoon, and left my house at 1:45, taking the route that Trump would be taking to get to Utica from Griffiss. There was already police presence along the route, plus the State had placed large DOT dump trucks along the highway into Utica, situating them in the spaces where NO U TURN signs are along the way. When I got back into Rome around 3:30, there was even more police presence along the same highway where the dump trucks are. I didn’t take the Griffiss exit like I normally would as I wanted to pick up a sandwich before heading home.
