Palin energized that convention crowd and the Dems and the media (I repeat myself) were absolutely scared. There was an image of Piper licking her hand to wipe down Trig's hair. Dem strategists deemed it the spit that would sink their campaign because it was something so lovable and relatable that their campaign didn't have.

I think if you asked a hundred of us who voted for McCain in 2008 about feeling crappy giving the guy our vote....right now today, more than fifty percent are negative about that vote, and regret it. So this hyped chatter from the news media is having zero effect on us.

It’s more than Trump knows his base (regarding McCain). Trump knows McCain helped start the bogus investigation into make-believe Russian “collusion” that both didn’t exist and isn’t illegal anyway.
And it’s an investigation that is still going on and is the primary thorn in Trump’s side. If I was Trump it’d be hard to say nicey-nice things about McCain even after he died and supposedly became a saint.
