It’s, actually, a way to defeat an incumbent U.S. Senator as well as make an attempt of defeating Trump’s pick for TSCOTUS, at the same time. This is, definitely, a way of energizing The Left, prior to the ‘18 U.S. November Midterm Election. Dianne Feinstein is, already, “branded” as Not Leftist Enough, by many Leftists who want her replaced.
I believe there is a calculated plan. Some 2 weeks before the vote the name of the women will leak out. Now having the name the dems will push for a rollback on confirmation.
It is also completely false and using it too early would have got it exposed early and would have damaged other efforts. It is a desperation move to be used after all legitimate seeming moves have failed.
