Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., echoed Leader Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday, saying Democrats shouldnt consider impeaching Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh before the Senate makes it decision and the FBI finishes its reopened background check.
Though a number of key House Democrats have said they want to investigate the allegations of sexual assault against Kavanaugh if their party wins the lower chamber in November, Democratic leaders were more hesitant to jump on the bandwagon.
I dont want to prejudge, Hoyer said Thursday in a sit-down with reporters, where he boasted about Democrats' chances of flipping control of the House. I think we ought to all see [the FBI report] and get through the election. We ought not to prejudge our actions on that issue.
We have to see what the Senate does: do they confirm him or not, Hoyer added....

Uh oh!
Way too late
Wait, Steny Hoyer is still alive? Who knew?
Steny has been a good sport, being mostly quiet and mostly well-mannered, waiting quietly in the wings for Nancy Pelosi to retire or shuffle off this mortal coil. I wonder when it finally dawned on him that he has waited in vain.
Were the Democrats to get the House and a five seat majority in the Senate every judge appointed by Trump and every other conservative judge would be up for impeachment, probably in batches. They don’t need 60 Senators. There would be sufficient Republicans breathing sighs of relief that the Senate has got back to its proper balance and who would vote with the Democrats.
Should be talking about filing RICO and racketeering charges against the DNC. F’ing Mafia
Democrats were calling for impeachment of Trump the day after he won the election. This one they’re actually calling for an impeachment before Kavanaugh even gets confirmed. LOL
Steny Hoyer is sounding the alarm, which goes unheeded, that this feeding frenzy on Bret Kavanaugh is going to very negatively impact the Democrat quest for regaining control of either the House or Senate.
Brett Kavanaugh is a decent man in every way, but the Democrats do not recognize that trait, as they have no decency themselves. First it was “he gropes girls who are unwilling” to “he drinks beer and gets out of control” to he lack something like ‘judicial temperament’ and should be denied a seat on the Supreme Court”.
All this is frankly not one bit removed from schoolyard taunting from the fourth grade, when a sort of “Lord of the Flies” mentality has overtaken the Democrat minority and apparently a few of the never-Trumper Republicans.
Capriciously changing the “criteria” by which Judge Kavanaugh is being measured against, and demanding more “time” and more “background” regardless of the exemplary record already on the books and open for review for anyone who cares to look, the Democrats hope to drive Brett Kavanaugh into withdrawing his name from consideration, and resigning from his current post on the Federal Appeals Court as well.
There was a time when a Republican President would have caved, facing this much resistance, but we are dealing with Donald J. Trump, a most powerful force of nature, and one of whom the Democrats have never accurately gauged.
I dont want to prejudge,
I think that train has left the station - Some Democrats had stated even before a name was known they would not confirm.
Yeah, he could’ve said “Merrick Garland” and they’d have gone nuts!
Sheer nonsense.
For conviction, necessary for removal, you need a 2/3 vote in the Senate. That’s 67 votes. Without that, you can impeach, but there’s no removal.
He knows talk of impeaching Trump is helping to kill Democrats
The Prince Charles of the House.
It's not that he thinks they shouldn't impeach him. He just doesn't want them to show their hand before its time.
I think there are enough Republicans who will slide over there to make that if the Democrats get 52. I have no faith in these guys at all. If they manage a simple majority the Democrat billionaires and lobbyists will make very inviting offers as well as some financial and/or other threats. They are playing for all the marbles and the level of proffered corruption will be much higher than it was a decade ago.
Steny has always been a cagey player.
This is another reason why we need term limits.
“This is another reason why we need term limits.”
Yup, serve two terms and go home!!
