Why I’ll reluctantly vote for Trump in 2020 — again
The Johnson City Press ^ | October 20, 2018 | Kenneth D. Gough

Posted on 10/20/2018 5:29:06 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Donald Trump was my 17th choice for president in 2016, and the only reason I could bring myself to vote for a man I considered unsuited for the job was, the alternative was Hillary Clinton. No need to go through the reasons; it’s a long list, starting with cattle futures and proceeding to the corrupt-to-its-eyeballs Clinton Foundation. Say what you will about Trump (and there is so much to say), his wealth was earned in the private sector. The Clinton’s was “earned” by exploiting their political power, actual and potential.

We have a pretty good idea why Trump got the Republican nomination; his supporters see him as a rebuke to a ruling class that they believe (with more than a bit of justification) sees them as deplorable, and has abandoned them to a heartless, soulless globalism that denigrates the United States and them as its citizens. That’s the polite way of putting it. “Sharp stick in the eye” is probably closer to the mark. Looked at this way, Trump’s crudity (sexual and otherwise), ego and loud mouth aren’t bugs, they’re features, putting our “betters” in their place. The fact that he was anything but part of the Republican establishment was his biggest selling point, and, for that, his many faults and sins could and would be tolerated.

So how to explain Hillary Clinton? Even with her many faults and sins, she was quintessential Democratic establishment. Here was a woman at the very center of power for over 25 years, yet blatantly, obviously corrupt and arguably worse. The establishment is supposedly the best and brightest the party has to offer. Was she the best the Democrats could do? This is what I simply can’t understand....

Provided I am blessed with life and the ability to get to the polls in 2020 and Donald J. Trump is alive and on the ballot I will vote for him with a joyous heart such as I have never experienced in the voting booth before.

Didn’t understand why author couldn’t figure out why dems couldn’t come out with someone better.
He believes the Clintons are corrupt and manipulative and power crazy and possibility murderous? And he can’t figure out why the dems are stultified?
My fantasy is that the Dems know that Hillary and Bill are politically dead. Dems are now burning up their chaff to rid themselves of the Clinton machine. Going for new immigrants and their families and low information youth is their future. And those groupings tend to need big government for now. Old time Dems not wanted. Just sayin’

That’s a clever analogy. It never occurred to me, but Trump is like a warrior king, a vanished breed straight out of the meade-halls of Beowulf.

I agree, President DJ Trump has done what no other candidtae would do. He shoved a sharp stick in his enemies eyes and will continue to poke them again and again as long as they keep moving against him. We have witnessed President Trump again and again forgive people who change their ways and he has reached across the aisle more than any of the past 4 presidents. hes not above putting talented people we might not like, in power, but he expects them to toe the line while working for him. Yes working for HIM! not for the betterment of the US of A. but for him. Thank God his goals are for the betterment of conservative americans, working americans, veterans, moms, dads, the unborn, and women in general . Just dont piss him off.

"...Divine Providence..."

While personally not religious, I am increasingly inclined to believe a “greater power” did not wish our beloved nation to swirl into the sewer drain of history. I agree that President Trump was sent to save our wonderful nation. History will regard him as one of the top five Presidents to ever occupy the Oval Office. President Trump is doing a fantastic job for our country.

Trump was an unknown as a politician but easy to vote for against Crooked Hillary.

His presidential leadership on virtually every issue important to me - against foes in both parties, foes in media, foes in social media and others - has been an inspiration. God blessed America with Donald John Trump.

Well, I embrace DJT as the only possible antidote to political correctness. I am glad he offends the left - I have been offended by them for 40+ years. I am glad he is in your face because the policies of the left destroy people.

This guy's mentality is what got us loser GOP candidates like Bob Dole, John McCain and Mitt Romney.

Even the "winning" GOP presidential candidates since Reagan (the two Bushes) were destructive big-government globalists.

Trump was the best choice out of all 22 candidates Republican and Democrat. And no, Trump is governing much better and by far more conservatively than any of the other candidates would have done.

Agreed. There are millions of voters; why should anyone care why this one sphincter voted one way or another?

This was all about power, and it exposed a Democratic Party so desperate to keep it that they will stop at nothing, short of murder.

Obviously this person has never googled "clinton body count".

President Trump is still the successful rebuke to the ruling class and other communist nits however, Obama is the rebuke to the ruling class now...the ex-president of the USA who so hated/hates America, he tried/is trying to destroy her.....

Obama's "wing-man", Erik Holder, Michelle, Valarie, and others on the BHO team are working to keep this country in an up-roar, encouraging the disconnection of Americanism, Liberty, love of country and God.
