A few weeks or months pass and in the meanwhile there is a big news story or two. Then the media starts “shutdown stories” again and it dawns on most of the public that they had forgotten about the shutdown and don’t really notice it.
That’s the real fear for the Democrats.
Good point. The opposition loves to use distraction as a way to control the narrative. For this to be effective, the distraction has to be the main media focus. Let’s say POTUS does something else that they feel the need to respond to. How do they counter? Find some new false narrative to push that may dilute their fear mongering over the shutdown? Time is their enemy.
