President Donald Trump met with a key Republican negotiator Thursday, Feb. 7, to lay out his demands for a border deal, as lawmakers sought an agreement to stave off another government shutdown.
Senate Appropriations Chairman Richard Shelby, R-Ala., told reporters after meeting with Trump that he believes the president will support a deal bipartisan congressional negotiators produce - as long as it meets his parameters. Lawmakers face a Feb. 15 deadline when large portions of the government will shut back down absent a deal.
Shelby declined to detail Trump's requirements, and he did not say whether the president had agreed to accept less than the $5.7 billion he's been demanding to build new steel walls along the U.S.-Mexico border.
"If we can work within some of the parameters that we talked about today - that we'll keep to ourselves - I think he would sign it," Shelby said. "And I think he's, from my perspective, been quite reasonable."
Shelby added: "We hope we've got a deal. If we haven't got a deal, we probably won't get a deal."...

Yep. This whole thing reads like amnesty. My biggest worry concerning Trump’s tactics in this, is anything the establishment agrees on and sends to him as border control, will look much more like amnesty.

I for one won’t support an arm chair quarter back over someone who put his money on the line, is constantly being harrased by crazies trying to bring him and his family down while those on his team threaten him and others on “his team” try to undermine him.
I have spoken repeatedly and at length with my former Congressman in a number of cordial discussions. He always seemed engaged and interested, even giving me the contact information for his chief of staff in order to work out additional details of various proposals.
It had not the slightest effect whatever on what he supported in subsequent legislation. And what he continues to support is distinctly harmful to me and mine. He has since gotten himself elected to Governor of the State and his replacement is yet another Leftist in a safe Democrat district.
Neither individual is likely to ever be removed from office by elections. A very large plurality of the voters here seem to want a Socialist Government. The Democrats do not even need to cheat in the elections, although I am sure that they still do. They cheat each other after they defeat the Republicans.
I concluded that civic engagement with opposition politicians is a futile waste of effort and they will not stop bleeding us with new "social justice" programs. I have no good answers on how to solve the problem.

Ann has become an anti-Trumper in my opinion. I quit listening to her completely before the election and just avoid anything that she says anymore. I really don’t care. All Trump has to do is use any funds, unobligated or black program, and build the wall.
