Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Sunday the Democratic House majority is determined to impeach President Trump, regardless of the findings in special counsel Robert Muellers now-concluded investigation into Russian election meddling.
Lamenting what he called extremism on the part of the Democrats, Cruz cited remarks by House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) in an earlier segment on CNN's "State of the Union" that the Houses mandate goes beyond investigating crimes. Cruz added that the House "doesn't care about the basis" for impeachment.
When asked by CNNs Dana Bash whether he agreed with Trumps frequent characterization of Muellers investigation as a witch hunt, Cruz demurred, but said the special counsel's team included too many partisan Democrats and went on far too long.

We dodged a bullet with Hillary *AND* this guy.
Enough Dem members don’t want to do a crazy impeachment that so there are not enough votes in the House to get it done. But you won’t hear this on the fake news, which counts on the butthurt snowflake voters to keep watching in misguided hope to get rid of Trump. Impeachment is good for ratings even though it won’t happen.
Have to agree with you and that is what I have thought since the primaries.
This is he democrat platform.
Losers, one and all.
PING

Go For It, RATs.
Make it your central 2020 campaign platform.
When asked by CNNs Dana Bash whether he agreed with Trumps frequent characterization of Muellers investigation as a witch hunt, Cruz demurred
The following remarks by Cruz which you did not quote would provide context to those who trusted but did not verify:
Cruz demurred, but said the special counsel's team included too many partisan Democrats and went on far too long.
By doing that, it undermined the credibility and impartiality of the special counsels office, he said. Im concerned that it may have become a fishing expedition not a single person was indicted for colluding with the Russians.
Demure is a perfect weasel word for Cruz; he’s unfit for leadership beyond the Senate, a Senate seat that DJT won for him.
The topic of this thread is Cruz, not Trump. Stay focused.
Trumps frequent characterization of Muellers investigation as a witch hunt, Cruz demurred...
I’ll add, that Cruz is a Senator, where they almost always are very polite and respectful to even those they completely disagree with.
In that little snippet from the article - it seems that CNN is trying to get Cruz to say he “agreed” in order to tie Cruz to ALL of Trump’s often disrespectful tweets. I’m for Trump’s tweets 90% of the time.
The term “witch hunt” might also be viewed as some sort of activity outside of the law. I’m guessing that Cruz, being a lawyer, wants the rule of law followed - including those that allow these special investigations.
I hope that Cruz will call for an investigation into all of the claims that caused this investigation in the first place - to see if those claims had any justification, or if they were false claims. (It would seem to be the later).
I found another article with some quotes by Cruz:
“We’ll see what’s in the report, and as a member of the Judiciary Committee, I’m going to read the report. I want to give it fair consideration.”
So I think it would be prudent for Cruz to not characterize the investigation as a “witch hunt” before reading the report. And he also wants the report to be made public:
“And I hope and expect the American people to have the chance to do the same thing.”
And then he says something that gets back to my comment about Cruz being a law-and-order type of person:
“That’s why you’re seeing Democrats like Congressman Nadler saying, “Don’t worry about crimes. Our focus is not just crimes. Our focus is broader.” What their focus is is politics and they need to set aside the rage and anger.
No need to target McCain and hillary specifically. The outcomes of investigating will take care of that.
Another nice thing about this approach will be to force Republican US Senate traitors to go along. How can they object to a search for truth, if it's framed that way?
He’s honorable for sure.
You’re the kind of reader a leftist journalist dreams about, the kind who will lap up their spin to immediately attack their own.
I’m the kind of reader who recognizes a weak man, who, even after a full vindication, is unable to unequivocally support Donald Trump.
Oh really, tell us did you watch the video of senator cruz’s own words, or did you only read the journalists words and run with his characterization on here
At this moment in time I want one thing from Cruz; complete support of President Trump. Period. He failed in this instance ans he has in all previous instances.
