Why it won't be easy for Elizabeth Warren to take Bernie Sanders' base
CNN Politics ^ | May 18, 2019 | Analysis by Harry Enten, CNN

First things first: The theme song of the week is the theme from The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

Poll of the week: A new national Fox News poll finds former vice president Joe Biden leading the Democratic primary 35% to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders' 17% and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren's 9%.

The poll is the latest to show Biden rising from the high 20s into the mid-to-upper 30s and Warren climbing from the mid-single digits to high-single digits. Meanwhile, Sanders has fallen from the 20s into the mid-teens.

What's the point: It shouldn't be too surprising that Sanders' decline is associated with an increase in Warren's numbers. Sanders and Warren are the two most progressive major candidates in the Democratic field. Both have consistently polled their best among those Democrats who call themselves "very liberal" and their worst among Democrats who call themselves either moderate or conservative.

By merely looking at ideology, however, you miss what I believe are key differences between the types of voters each is attracting. It could prove difficult for Warren to make further gains among Sanders' supporters, unless she starts appealing to a different type of voter.

Sanders' voters are more likely to be mirror images of President Donald Trump's voters: working class and fed up with the current dysfunction in Washington, just on the other end of the political spectrum

Warren's voters are certainly liberal, but they are well-educated and aren't anywhere near as anti-establishment.

Take a look at the latest Fox News poll. Among white voters with a college degree, Sanders has 13% support. His support rises to 23% among white voters without a college degree.

Sanders voters from the last cycle, if they are still Democrats (many bolted), will not forget the way Warren threw him under the bus to make common cause with Clinton.

Bernie Sanders base was created by whomever it was that is behind the indoctrination and brainwashing of U.S. college/university professors and students. Those students, including former students who are now adults, are the base and they want the kind of unadulterated socialism/communism espoused by Bernie.

Warren isn't clear in her goals. She screams (squawks) about introducing socialism elements into our society and government, but she lacks Bernie's full-throated enthusiasm for collectivism.

But back to the original issue.

Who created Bernie's base? Who is behind the indoctrination/brainwashing of our colleges and universities. Who is behind the brainwashing that eventually resulted in students streaming out of those institutions into our media (print, TV, social/digital), law firms, entertainment companies, and government.

We cannot eliminate the enemy until we identify it.

From its work product, we can see it is some kind of communist effort, but who is it? What is its command and control structure? Who are its REAL leaders?

Lizzy is going nowhere. She’s just a svelte Hillary. Nobody can listen to her screeching and she has the same likability problem.

The socialists will pile on her house flipping and transmogrify it into profiteering off of the misery of the downtrodden.

They’re both phonies to the core. But Warren is more of a phony than he is and this is glaringly apparent.

At least Bernie was an unemployed, welfare mooch a good part of his life. Where she made her money flipping houses and lying about her ethnicity to get great paying jobs. All of which is known.

I agree. Lizzie is too old and impure (commie-wise).

That said, at this point, I can't see a natural successor to Bernie (and, man, is he long-in-the-tooth).

Kamala, Beto, and Spartacus are stepping all over themselves to fill the void, but it just ain't working.

Mayor Buttboy is running on the "I'm Gay" theme, but that will "peter-out" soon enough and it never really translates in a meaningful offshoot of Bernie-ism anyway.

I keep wondering if there is someone else in the green room (other than De Blasio, that is).

One possible solution for the commies is Biden/Abrams.

She may be a loser, but she is pure commie.

Uncle Joe would last about 6 months before he has a 25th Amendment-style aneurysm.

Many in Bernies 2016 base took showers, shaved, brushed their teeth, stopped the red hair dye, got a real haircut, trimmed and cleaned their fingernails, put on some deodorant, put on some decent clothes that didn’t smell like pot, removed the nose ring, got off the sofa and found real JOBS in the Trump economy.

All that’s left of Bernies base are the perpetual misfits.

Fake news.

Asserts with no evidence that the cultural appropriation issue (and being continually ridiculed for it) has gone away.

Backs that assertion up by...not mentioning it.

Rooster, I'm not sure we can actually who (a few wizards controlling the scenery) are at fault for indoctrinating our youth.

The communist training has been going on for a few decades now.  Today it seems to be a self-perpetuating ideology and group-think now.

But a few weeks ago I found a remarkable 1.5 hour conversation on YouTube between Jordan Peterson and Camile Paglia.

Paglia is at her best here -- which is to say, Peterson allows Paglia to go into one of her rapid streams of consciousness about how the Post-Modern movement evolved in academia -- and how thoroughly out of step it was with the 1970s peace and artistic revolution.

Real scholarship and high-thinking in this discussion.

Now it's hard to sit and watch a discussion like this for 1.5 hours.  This is why I use the Ytmp3.cc website to create a podcast (mp3) in only a few minutes, then download to my Android so I can listen on the way to work in my car.

Warren voters don’t like men, even socialist men.

The militantly Marxist faction of the Democrats that Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez, et al represent is coming out of the Democratic Socialists of America bloc of Congress, which was a formal affiliate of the Socialist International until 2016, when it withdrew from SI in favor of building more direct relationships with movements in places such as Palestine and Venezuela. DSA has its roots in a Socialist Party-influenced offshoot of Students for a Democratic Society. In recent years it has networked with groups such as Industrial Workers of the World, Antifa, and Black Lives Matter. During the 2016 campaign and its immediate aftermath, these "ground troops" were organized into an anti-Trump coalition by the Revolutionary Communist Party under the aegis of Refuse Fascism, assisted by former Vietnam antiwar leaders such as Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground. The RCP descends from a Maoist faction of post-Vietnam U.S. Marxism called the New Communist Movement. These are pawns in the game. Bigger players behind them include leftist/Machiavellian elements in the U.S., U.K., and EU intelligence communities as well as the old Cold War players Russia, China, Cuba, etc., with an assist from Muslim groups that find common ground with the left in supporting the Palestinian cause. Follow the money and it generally goes back to Soros, among others. As far as the real leaders of the command structure, my working theory is that as far as domestic players go at least (apart from the roles played by the foreign actors mentioned above), the Obama intelligence community (and probably the Clinton administration before them, building on Porject Megiddo) was running something like a left-wing counterpart of COINTELPRO to manipulate both "far-left" and "far-right" groups (case in point: the curious case of Charlottesville Obama-supporter-turned-white-supremacist Jason Kessler), with Brennan near the top of the food chain acting on behalf of first Obama and then Hillary Clinton, and the Comey FBI actively supporting the operation.

The BLT population is too small to support Butthead once you get off the two coasts.

It’s Michelle waiting in the wings. She’s going to swan in at the last moment, hoping to cut short the amount of time Trump has to eviscerate her.

Stay calm. Our President is fearless. Black and allegedly a woman does not earn her kid glove treatment from President Trump.
