Highlights of Donald Trump’s kick-off rally
What’s On Politics ^ | June 24, 2019

President Donald Trump recently announced his bid for reelection in the swing state of Florida, a state that has played a crucial role in past presidential elections. Trump talked of his achievements the past 2 years; from economic gains to historic unemployment levels, to companies coming back, fair trade deals underway and working hard for all Americans, with a promise to “never, ever let you down”. Trump was cheered like a winning QB or a Super Bowl team in front of a crowd of 20,000 strong supporters who showed up on June 18.

While he touted his gains, he also consistently hit on the “witch hunt” by the Democrats in the Mueller report, the current “do over” that the House of Representatives is performing, and their efforts to put “political agenda” ahead of the welfare of the American people. Trump received massive applause saying there are many areas where both parties can work together “but Democrats refuse.” He also warned that any vote for a Democrat in 2020 is a “vote to the rise of radical socialism and the destruction of the American dream.” Which was received with chants of USA! USA!

Here are the highlights of the Trump rally that you should know:

1. The 20,000 capacity Amway Theater was packed

Thousands packed the Amway Center during Trump’s officially launching of his 2020 campaign. Crowd estimates were between 18,500-22,000. In his speech, Trump said 120,000 people requested for free tickets to the event. We didn’t hear any news about an empty crowd, so I’m guessing the venue was pretty packed. Judge the pictures below.

Even CNN’s Chris Cuomo had to ask Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Amy Klobuchar why Democrats are unable to pack arenas with supporters like Trump. Watch to see her reaction here.

And now that he mentioned it. I also wonder why?

2. People camped out 40 hours before the campaign rally I thought this was insane until I saw several media actually reporting that people were camping near the Amway Theater to get good seats for the Trump rally as early as 2:30 a.m. Monday, or 42 hours ahead of the 8:30 p.m. schedule, Tuesday.

I know people camp out to buy tickets for concerts of music icons and ultra-famous celebrity idols, but to anticipate for a president like that? Wow, we have to give it to Donald Trump. His followers just adore him that much. No doubt about that.

3. Trump’s speech focused on America of, for and by the people Okay, so Trump’s speech was long. It lasted an hour and 20 minutes with several pauses to make way for the crowd cheering and chanting, or when Sarah Sanders took the stage for her farewell speech, but the media reported Trump’s speech to be “dark, scary and same old” but I found it interesting how his message revolved over and around the theme of “Americans First” – emphasizing how the US should take care of its people first. Mind you, his supporters like that and that message has endeared him to them. You could hear them screaming every time Trump uses superlatives “Our future is brighter, the economy is better than ever.”

“American dream is back and it’s bigger and better and stronger than ever before,” Trump said repeatedly throughout his speech to the applause of an eager audience. “A government who believes that a nation must care for its own citizens first. We restored a government of, by and for the people,” he said.

It’s all about them, the people – you, you, you. Trump nailed it. Well, except that, of course, he hit back on Democrats and the media over and over again too for the collusion hoax, and the difficulties he has faced to get policies to move forward. I guess he just had to?

4. Sarah Sanders is leaving, and she will likely run for Arkansas governor

Speaking of Sarah Sanders, yeah, she’s leaving by the end of June and did Trump just announced her run for governor of Arkansas too?

“I have a feeling she’s gonna be running for a certain gubernatorial position,” Trump said in his Orlando rally. We will see what happens next.

5. Melania Trump introduced Donald Trump The First Lady spoke with grace when she made a rare introduction of Donald Trump in his kick off campaign rally wearing a very bright yellow jumpsuit, which many analysts say is meant to symbolize optimism.

“I’m proud of what my husband, his administration and my entire family have done on behalf of the American people in such a short time. He truly loves this country and will continue to work on your behalf, as long as he can. All of us will,” Mrs. Trump said before the President escorted her away from the stage.

Read that again: He truly loves this country and will continue to work on your behalf, as long as he can. All of us will- well, that is just powerful.

6. Trump campaign raked in $25 million on that single day

Okay, we already said this earlier – Trump raised $25 million in the first 24 hours since kicking-off his reelection campaign, beating the 5 highest polling Democratic candidates. combined.

“@realDonaldTrump has raised a record-breaking $24.8M in less than 24 hours for his re-election. The enthusiasm across the country for this President is unmatched and unlike anything we’ve ever seen! #trump2020 #KeepAmericaGreat,” Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel Tweeted early on Wednesday. Former Vice Pres. Joe Biden gathered $6.3 million in the first 24 hours since announcing his bid for president. Bernie Sanders got $5.9 million. None of them has ever reached $20 million as of the first quarter.

And guess what? The RNC has a larger share (51%) of small-dollar donations under $200 compared to the DNC (43%). Grassroots America supporting Trump. So much enthusiasm right there.

7. Mike Pence is still running as his VP Trump didn’t really announce that Mike Pence will be his VP again, but I guess the fact that the Vice President and his wife, Karen Pence were there in the rally says it all. Trump also kept thanking Pence for his efforts to help make America Great Again!

8. Trump was attacking the media, again (for fake news) This is not new. Trump does this all the time and sometimes, he has the reason to do so. In his campaign rally, Trump talked about how the media “colluded” with the Democratic party to spread hate and divide this country. He also blamed the media and its “fake news” for propagating the greatest “witch hunt” in the history of American politics and for covering up for the liberal agenda each and every time.

“We went through the greatest witch hunt in political history – the only collusion was done by the Democrats and the fake news media and their operatives and the people who funded the phony Dossier (Hillary Clinton and the DNC),” Trump said.

9. CNN cuts away from the video when people were booing them Trump took a swipe at the media, and the crowd started singling out CNN and started chanting “CNN sucks” for a good 20 seconds.

“Alright, we’ve been watching the president kick off his re-election bid,” John Berman said. “He’s been on stage for about six minutes. Within two minutes he did talk about the economy, but within four minutes it was attacks on the media.”

CNN just had to cut it off. LOL.

Watch it here. It’s both hilarious and awkward. 10. Keep America Great will replace MAGA This is one of the key highlights of the Orlando rally – Trump announcing his new dictum for 2020. While admitting that “Make America Great Again” is probably one of the best in campaign history, Trump said that next to making America great is “Keeping it great.”

“Keep America Great. We’re not gonna lose. Keep America Great. We’re going to keep fighting for the man and woman and children across this land. Keep it better than ever,” Trump said. “That’s why tonight, I stand before you to officially launch my campaign for a second term as president of the United States.”

“I can promise you that I will never ever let you down. I won’t,” Trump added to the uproar of the audience.

“Don’t ever forget – this election is about YOU. It is about YOUR family, YOUR future, & the fate of YOUR COUNTRY. We begin our campaign with the best record, the best results, the best agenda, & the only positive VISION for our Country’s future!”

Okay, that’s enough said. You get the point.

Traveling from Houston to Rapid City SD, we popped in to the Rapid City, watch party. Had a great time with about 200 folk. To our surprise, the event made the local news at 10.
