"I have my doubts that any Republican, or very few, would vote against him," Sanders told reporters.
DAVENPORT, Iowa Bernie Sanders made some of his most pointed comments in support of impeaching Donald Trump on Tuesday, saying he believed the president had committed a number of impeachable offenses, but also expressed deep misgivings about supporting a move that could embolden Republican voters only to fall short of success in Congress.
Enough is enough, Sanders said before reiterating his previous call for an impeachment inquiry by the Judiciary Committee in the House of Representatives.
The Vermont senator, taking questions at a press conference here in Iowa on Tuesday, declined to commit on supporting impeachment if it came to a vote in the Senate, saying that it would be irresponsible to do so before reviewing the evidence and findings that would come from a formal inquiry.
I believe that there are impeachable offenses. That's my view. But my view is not good enough, Sanders said, citing concerns about obstruction of justice in the Robert Mueller investigation, possible violations of the Constitutions emoluments clause, and the new allegations around Trump and Ukraine.
I happen to believe that there are grounds to do it. But you have to lay it out.

Vindicated again you mean Bernie?
Could?! Once he is past this he will claim vindication.
A broken clock.
Well now.. even Bernie can have his occasional moment of lucidity. Hes spot-on here. This attempt at removing Trump from office will fail - miserably - and he will rightfully claim vindication.
IOW, Bernie is saying that if Trump is not removed from office there is no way in Bernie’s mind he will truly be not guilty but he is nonetheless afraid Trump will claim this.
I’d much rather have Bernie in the White House than Swalwell, Beto, Warren or Hillary, just to name a few.
Wow--a Democrat said this?
Isnt it a terrible thing to have a President say that he is vindicated when he is vindicated.

No, he’s not. By saying what he did, he keeps a little bit of wiggle room should he win the nomination and has to tack a bit towards the center.

Ha! You might catch a tad bit of flak for that one. But at least with Bernie you will always know just where you stand. He speaks honestly (or about as honestly as you can get for a Communist). All the rest of them will simply tell the base what they think the base wants to hear at that moment.
But he can't be bothered to enlighten us on what those offenses are.

Well, at least Sanders touches on the truth here. His opinion of the President should not be a factor in anything.

Sorry, Bernie, making a few buzzwords into a word salad does not constitute wrong doing on the part of the President.
This is an inoculation. Bernie is trying to position himself away from his 2020 primary opponents and the rest of the Democrat party. This is what he does.
Bernie is a wily, selfish, sneaky hypocrite who knows that he might be better off inoculating himself against the coming collapse of this whole tape business and Trump finally taking over the news cycle in Judo fashion in order to hammer Biden.
Clearly, they are just out to get President Trump.
A decent person would say something like, “I hope he’s not guilty. I hope nothing improper transpired. But we need to investigate, and if it appears that laws were broken, we will have no choice but to impeach.”
But the Democrats operate on the basis of: “We’ve got him this time! The walls are closing in! My only concern is that he might be declared not guilty!”

I think Bernie is reading the situation as if Trump is going to volunteer the transcripts, then there is a 99.9999999% chance there is nothing here that is wrong and the Democrats and the presidential front runners who are supporting this without looking at any of the evidence are going to look like giant fools
Bernie can stand up on stage and state that he didn’t want to go into impeachment without first looking at the evidence. He can look smart here. While everyone else looked like a giant fool
Biden is done, someone just hasn’t informed Grandpa yet.
I read that Bernie is struggling with getting the black vote.
Someone suggested if he started calling himself Colonel it might help!
Bernie knows the Democrats are coming for him next and soon. The Bernie voters are the new deplorables they need to get back in line with all the other strays
Actually, Bernie is being smart here. My bet is, he’ll say he thinks Trump committed impeachable offenses and then vote against impeaching him. He’ll say he knows the Republican “colleagues” in the Senate won’t convict the POTUS and he thinks we should focus on the “issues” and not waste taxpayer money, etc. etc...
This way, it’s a win-win for him. He’s no dummie.
(HAT TIP REDSHAWK)
REALITY CHECK Pelosi did not establish a formal investigation.
In order to start a formal inquiry WRT impeachment, it requires a house vote.
Pelosi does not want this.
If she was serious, she would have held a house vote yesterday and not a stupid talking-point presser.
Until there is a house vote to start a inquiry, this is all a convoluted scheme to provide cover for Biden and his druggie, worthless son.
