President Donald Trump was asked Monday about Los Angeles county leaders’ plans to extend the shelter in place order until the end of August and he called it a “death wish.”
“I mean I heard that they’re going to keep Los Angeles closed till end of August,” the president explained during his appearance at a roundtable discussion with restaurant owners at the White House, per a White House pool report. “That’s what the mayor [Eric Garcetti] wants to do.”

as a resident of the SFValley i call her the Angel of Death. she/Garcetti are creating an underground economy - here in L A! i don’t think Garcetti and Newsom are benefitting from their actions. to the contrary. everyone is aware of how far behind we are in opening up. the natives are beyond restless: they are taking matters into their own hands.
I think LA is actually even opposing Newsom on this, so maybe it will give Newsom the guts to step in. Some of the mayors and counties have been worse than the governors (but others have been better).

I don't think that is going to happen for some time. There has been enormous damage done to the economy. Plus, there is currently little incentive for some employees to go back to work who are getting more unemployment benefits than what they were being paid
Maybe so, but when everyone comes out of quarantine, we’re all going to be traveling, dining out, going to concerts, visiting one another—and spending money. And it’s all going to come back.

The last attempt to recall Garcetti failed to to garner enough signatures, if he actually goes through with this I believe a recall petition will gather more than enough signatures, as will one for Noisome Newsom.
