Pelosi: Republicans Have A Disdain Or Sort Of A Condescension Toward Working People
RCP video ^ | 7-30-2020 | Ian Schwartz

Speaker Nancy Pelosi joined Anderson Cooper on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 to discuss the urgent need for the Senate to take up the House-passed Heroes Act, the Trump Administration’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic response and other news of the day.

(snip)

Speaker Pelosi: "....and then put money in the pockets of the American people. While they (i.e., Republicans) have a disdain or sort of a condescension toward working people it seems because they don’t trust how they might use the $600. That kind of thing. ‘Oh, they have money to pay the rent. They are just not paying the rent.’ Well, that – we cannot operate if we're not even stipulating to a basic set of facts: the people are hurting, that unemployment is high and that we have a way to address this in terms of honoring heroes, testing, tracing, treatment as well as money in the pockets of the American people, being respectful of them and understanding their needs.

People are hungry. Millions of children are food insecure in our country, and we can't get them to do food stamps and women, infant and children food feeding programs and the rest of that.

We have a – we still have a long way to go, but we're determined that we will try to find common ground. We need the public to weigh in about the need to support state and local government and all the people who serve the communities. You can't open schools; state and local government supply over 90 percent of the funding for schools.

Pelosi and Dems are so full of compassion and respect for 'the working people' that they want to give them "a universal basic income for life", and permanently ensnare them onto the Dem plantation.

And I'll tell you why I don't trust the $600 extension. I refer to you the rampant abuse of one-time $2,000 check people got during Katrina aftermath.

IMO, most ordinary working people vote Republican.

The Democrats are supported by people who consider themselves “very special”.

More of the "you just can't make this stuff up" stuff from Democrats, eh? Above is a winery owned by Pelosi.

Given their obsession with H1Bs and amnesty, much of the GOP aren’t helping most American workers. IN that sense, Pelosi is right (although the DEMs aren’t any better and mostly worse).

In the way Republicans ( at the top at least ) embrace, globalism, “free Trade”, no tariffs and LEGAL immigration to suppress wages she does have a point.

Seems like if they're not going to open schools, the state and local government can reroute their funding. Easy solution.

BTW-Did anyone ask Pelosi why her husband got PPP funding? Did it go to buy more ice cream for her $24,000 refridgerator/freezer? How about the PPP the NPR received? Kennedy Center? The Democrat committees? On and on.

There should be no more bail outs. Send people back to work.

She is desperately trying to start a revolution. It became VERY clear when she tore up Trump’s speech on paper as he was speaking. Her hatred for him and his supporters are ALL that matters to her, nothing else.

If by “working people” she means “freeloaders who are a burden on the state”, then she is correct.

Is it Republicans who are trying to put the fossil fuel industries out of business and then telling those working in those industries who fear losing their jobs to "learn to code"? Man, she has chutzpah!

If you go to working-class Democrats outside of the urban zones...about half of their priorities in life will go hand-in-hand with Republican candidates. This is where Trump got a number of votes in 2016. Barak Obama couldn’t work that magic in 2008/2012. Hillary Clinton didn’t attract rural Democrats, and in 2020...Joe Biden won’t be able to attract them either.
