I’m in SW Florida where the heat index is 110. I am beyond sick of everything being called racist.

Ghetto dwellers are incapable of planting their own trees, or do they destroy the ones which are planted? Inquiring minds want to know.

Got it. So the street gangs that are of the same race that prey on their neighbors are all whitey’s fault. Ditto for black people rioting in their own neighborhoods in the 70s.

It’s the circle of crap,
And it moves the Left,
Through the way of trolling,
And this never ending hate,
It’s a leap into shit,
A cesspool unending,
And it’s the circle,
The circle of crap...

If I remember correctly, this “problem” was mentioned about twenty years ago. So volunteers went into the neighborhoods and planted trees.

The trees were immediately destroyed by those living there. So no sympathy from me.

“Wealthier “urban residential neighborhoods generally have greater vegetation cover, canopy cover, and plant diversity,” “

Instead of paying hundreds of dollars on shoes and weave, go and make planters and raised beds, and learn to grow?

Yes. The more wealth the nicer the things.

And then there’s this.....one of my brother’s best friends lives in Cincinnati. He moved to an apartment & cleaned out a trash & weed filled area in the back. He planted a really nice vegetable & flower garden. He did it in his free time after work. Initiative & labor.

20 years go they would be focused on "heat islands" in urban areas due to density and "poor planning" and not be trying to call it "systemic racism."

Why are minorities in these areas? Poverty. Why are they systemically poor? Cultural values enforced by Democrat policies that keep them uneducated, unemployed and underemployed.

Conclusion? Democrats have created urban plantations to rule.

Just a thought

Urban Heat Islands have been known for decades.

White families in cities experience them too. Think of kids splashing in open fire hydrants.

I suspect the ruination of urban Blacks came about more through Urban Renewal (TM), then Gentrification, rather than old school urban planning.

If they want to do rooftop gardens or plant trees, I’ll be happy to drag my White Boi arse down to Baltimore or DC to help them out. But they probably wouldn’t want my White Boi help because I’m a White Boi.*

If that’s so, maybe we should have huge marches into their neighborhoods, flashing lights at their windows and screaming about how we lived there first.

When the tax base is lower, there is less money for tree and sidewalk maintenance, fixing underground utilities due to invasive tree roots, removing storm-damaged tree limbs, pruning limbs that obstruct traffic lights or stop signs, lawsuits from kids climbing in city trees and falling out, gunmen or drug dealers hiding behind trees, etc.

I believe in Global Warming (but not Global Warmunism). With energy, I’m an all-of-the-above guy. Coal, wind, natgas, solar, oil, nuclear, hydro and fracking all have their place. But with all the subsidies, taxes and state incentives flying about, they can all be developed and used in horribly unproductive, bankruptcy-inducing ways. Get rid of all the distortions, and we’ll find the most efficient and marketable uses for each, and probably reduce emissions of all sorts in the process.
