The GOP’s Missed Opportunity On Infrastructure Now Costs Us Big Time
The Political Insider ^ | 4.1.21 | Christopher Barron

Unquestionably, much of the Biden infrastructure plan is an unmitigated disaster. Brad Polumbo has an excellent article up that highlights some of the most egregious spending provisions of the Biden plan.

They include $10 billion to create a “Civilian Climate Corp,” $20 billion to advance “environmental justice,” and $100 billion to make schools greener by doing things like eliminating paper plates.

The truth is that while the Biden plan is a disaster, it exists – in part – because of the GOP’s own refusal to deal with the issue of infrastructure when we held the House, Senate, and the White House.

Why don’t we just start keeping up infrastructure after we build it?
Then we wouldn’t have congress trying to pass this crap sandwich.

Exactly. The GOPe is just another part of the Deep State. They had/have to be defeated inside the GOP in order to defeat the Deep State.

Even if Trump had been able to throw a lot of money at so-called infrastructure spending the dems would still have added to the pile. That’s because a lot of their “infrastructure spending” is political paybacks.

Both parties are guilty of throwing money around for political purposes. The pubs are just lightweights compared to the dems.

You are kidding, right?

We have created the most prosperous, the most powerful, the most free, and the least racist society which has ever existed on the planet.

Most of our ruling class and a quarter of the population wants to destroy it because it is not perfect.

If our "infrastructure" were perfect, they would easily find another fantasy to "justify" their insane spending and greed.

Unfortunately slightly more than 50% of the whole nation doesn’t beleive this. Moreover, they vote Democrat. To add another painful “Moreover”, the have enough votes in swing states to win any election that they really care to win for the foreseable future.

Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell shouldn’t have continued to be the leaders once Trump won, but I don’t support this infrastructure legislation.

President Trump could have fixed a lot of these problems if he had been supported by his own party. No other president was more uniquely qualified to address the nation’s infrastructure.

I can’t hate the Republican party any more than I do now. What a wasted opportunity.

The GOP is a miss. We elect these goof balls over and over..like bouncing a ball off a brick wall. It’s us who can’t or won’t learn to never vote for an incumbent. We have in Congress a wad of pantywaists men strutting around with no idea of their job. Sickening is my thought of them.

I gotta disagree.
They want to destroy the US because there isn’t enough power and graft for them. Perfect would be just as bad as ‘good enough’ for these people. They want a return to tyranny and feudalism.

Trump was planning to spend a lot on infrastructure. It got sidelined by the 2018 election & COVID.

Yep, all the GOP cared about was undermining Trump.

The party doesn’t give a damn about what its voters want.

It is a disgusting, reprehensible and irredeemable party.

Yep, we never hold our elected officials accountable for anything. We’re too detached and lazy to do that. So we deserve what we get.

“......Why don’t we just start keeping up infrastructure after we build it? Then we wouldn’t have congress trying to pass this crap sandwich.

I don’t think that he is kidding. Let me explain, why I agree with him. I design and supervise many government agency construction projects.

I have told agency heads that they don’t need to build a new “X” that I could just implement a maintenance program to refurbish what they have. I have been lectured that that is not acceptable, because maintenance comes from a different budget than capitol construction. Also with a capital project the agency can charge a bunch of staff hours to the project that lowers their FTE numbers in the operating budget.

At other times I have presented agencies with a choice on spending a little more for low maintenance new equipment in a capital project or lower first cost with high maintenance. Again, I have been told to go with the lowest first cost (higher maintenance cost) and that when the equipment fails because of lack of maintenance, they will go to the legislature to ask for grants to replace the equipment.

Spending on infrastructure is good, if and only if, those receiving the money will maintain the capital equipment.

If things aren’t maintained it is a wasteful use of tax payer money.

The GOPe is just another part of the Deep State. They had/have to be defeated inside the GOP in order to defeat the Deep State.

Which is why we must vote out every RINO who must face a primary challenge in 2022. There is no more important thing we can do. Especially with state elections. The 2020 Steal could not have happened without the traitorous RINO-controlled state legislatures of GA, PA, AZ, and MI. If we can replace the RINOs with true conservatives in these state legislatures, we will have a chance to take back the WH in 2024.

And I'm sick of the defeatist talk of "my vote doesn't matter anymore." We are very, very close to that, granted. The 2022 elections, and more importantly the GOP primaries, are looking like our last chance to save the country.
