Did not like it when DeSantis endorsed Colorado RINO O’Dea over Trumps urging voters not to vote for the anti Trumper. We must stick together if we are to turn this country around.

I don’t pay much attention to The Swill when it comes to Trump.

Governor Ron DeSantis Endorses Senate Candidate Joe O’Dea, Who Vows to Campaign Against Donald Trump

LOL!

And President Trump endorsed Mitt Romney who was already an anti-Trumper!

Seethe and cope.

I'm not surprised by the result. I think most Republicans feel that Trump in still the power in the Republican Party with the reins handed over to DeSantis after that.

The poll needs to distinguish between short-term and long-term. I went against my best instincts and looked at the sHill article. It didn't provide any details on the time frame involved. I think most Republicans see Trump as the de facto party leader in 2024 and DeSantis as the guy after that. In other words, the party is the party of Trump in the short-term and probably the part of DeSantis in the longer-term.

2024 is not the same problem as 2016. The same tactics will not work.

2016 was a fractured field. There was no obvious consensus candidate. Trump could win the early primaries by pulling 20% of the vote. That will not be the case in 2016.

Even if there are six candidates on the stage, this thing is going to be DeSantis vs. Trump, with rough parity of support. If Trump pulls his usual scorched earth BS, he will pull 20% in the early primaries, and DeSantis will pull 40%.

On Trump’s best day, if he goes ugly, he will be lucky to get 50% support amongst Republicans. That will not be good enough.

The Republican field is going scorched earth on its own base. Opus?

This is like throwing the candy away and putting the candy wrapper in your scrapbook. Or something.

1. We have no idea how many GOP contenders there will be in 2024, do we?

2. What makes you think DeSantis is going to attract any more grassroots support than Jeb Bush did?

It’s a damned shame. I think he’s a great governor, and I plan to vote for his re-election this November, but maybe that is all he will be.

The irony is that a lot of what he does helps the middle and working classes, so you would think he wouldn’t have a problem with the GOP becoming the party of the American worker. After all, it was Abraham Lincoln himself who MADE A SPEECH ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF LABOR TO THE FORMATION OF CAPITAL. And until about the middle of the 20th Century, the GOP supported tariffs, which, guess what, helped some American workers.

But that seems to be the way of some GOP: A good governor, like George W. Bush, going on to become a lousy President. As 2024 comes along, we must beware. Hope for the best; prepare for the worst. As usual.

There is no Republican out there with a small fraction of DeSantis’ support except Trump. If Trump runs, this will be a binary primary. I don’t think Trump wins a binary primary.

The only way Trump wins is to have five or more candidates splitting the non- Trump vote. That is not going to happen is 2024.

I think Trump is smart enough to figure this out. I don’t think he runs is 2024.

If Desantis decides to run, it won’t be because he was declared by anyone.

And the GopE will not favor him over RINOS. that’s crazy talk.
