The steering committee of the Alabama Republican Party issued a statement of no confidence in Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel and said it would not support her reelection for the position.
The RNC is scheduled to elect its next chair at a meeting in February. McDaniel, former leader of the Republican Party in Michigan, has been RNC chair since 2017, when she became the second woman elected to the position. Harmeet Dhillon, an attorney from California, is challenging McDaniel for chair.
The Alabama Republican Party steering committee, a 21-member panel, is the main governing body for the state GOP. The committee issued the call for new RNC leadership after meeting on Saturday.
Nationally, the Republican Party fell short of expectations in the mid-term election. Republicans won control of the U.S. House by a narrower than expected margin and failed to win control of the Senate. The Alabama GOP steering committee said the RNC needs a new vision for future elections.
Here’s the full statement:
The Alabama Republican Party leadership is committed to representing our grassroots members, and defending the core conservative values that the people of Alabama stand for.
We believe that RNC leadership needs a new vision for future elections. We believe that the RNC needs to make defending the American people and their God-given rights and freedom a priority.
We believe that the Republican Party needs to stand strong for the party platform, and the principles that made this country great.
We believe that the RNC needs fresh, new leadership who can inspire and lead grassroots Republicans to victory.
For these reasons, the Alabama Republican Party’s Steering Committee cannot support or endorse Ronna McDaniel for RNC Chair and declare our vote of no-confidence in her leadership. We encourage all RNC members across the country to support new leadership at the RNC Winter Meeting.
Alabama and national politics.
McDaniels has clearly been a failure. Is Dhillon a good replacement? idk anything about him.
Her leftwing RINO/Socialist bosses would deem her a magnificent success.
Couldn’t be any worse..................
One hears that he has a cute sister. :)
Mike Rogers is available.
Mike’s a real fighter.
Come on Alabama, we’re going for the swamp trifecta, the three Micks. Get with the program. /s
I heard Mike Lindell was interested in that position.
Yes. .........
Dhillion is a she and everything I heard about her is she is nasty and wants to fight. If she wins, it might be true. She appears on Bannon’s War Room regularly.
No to Mike. He needs to stick to selling pillows. He’s a nice guy and all, but he’s not the sharpest tool in the shed. Dhillion is much smarter, more strategic and very nasty compare to Minnesota nice Lindell.
Good
Surprised that Alabama, home State of Rep Mike Rogers, the redneck Bully
who attempted violence on another Member is against McDaniel.
She is ROMNEY’s NIECE.
Anyone named Romney needs to be purged from GOP.
