SACRAMENTO (AP) - Global warming means epochal changes in the Sierra Nevada snow pack that supplies two-thirds of California's water and most of the water for northern Nevada, says a study being released Thursday.

The snow pack will shrink and melt earlier in the year, reducing runoff in the dry spring and summer, predicts the Sierra Nevada Alliance. The snow line will climb 500 feet within decades as temperatures rise.

If the the snow pack even stays near its usual and Northern Nv and CA keep growing

"Sierra Nevada snow pack that supplies two-thirds of California's water and most of the water for northern Nevada"

then there is trouble and one cannot call it global warming.

Crooked shills alert!

Global warming also means more water suspended in saturated air that might drop more precipitation. We might need more storage, especially underground, but it doesn't necessarily portend a water crisis. Consider that water consumption in Northern California is less than half per capita what it is in the south.

The effects are not as predictable as these creeps would have us believe.

Oh, nonsense! Some years there's a lot of snow, and a big snow pack. Some years not.The melting snowpack supplies ditch water to a lot of the communities up in the Sierra, purified at the tap so to speak. Giardia runs amok. But these alarmist idiots are irritating in their irrationality. Most of the water to S CA is drained from NCA lakes, like Mono. I have never understood when it rains alot all that water just rushes down the Los Angles river out into the ocean. Mega tons of rain water.

Hey, Imperial County farmers! Do you really think the wolves won't be back, looking to squeeze some more water out of your crops?

Clayburgh and ...Sheila Kuehl ...warned ...against building new dams ...a solution they said would harm the environment.

Oh heresy. More dams in the face of larger spring flooding.

The inmates are obviously in charge of the asylum. These two would be more useful to the public cleansing the stream beds with a broom so that California could utilize a higher percentage of the spring runoff.

Why you yellin at my friend Norm?

Here's exactly what upset me most about Arnold during the Recall Campaign!!!

"Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger endorsed such a conservancy as part of his environmental platform."

The Sierra Nevada Alliance is headed by a former County Supervisor and the Whitewater Rafting King of El Dorado County and has already put the western slope of the Sierra Nevada Range in a state of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT!!!

You'll also find him on the board of GreatValley.org with the disgraced Tony Cohello. You guys need to really take a good long look at these two websites and follow the links to all their affiliates. You will be looking right into the lair of GANG-GREEN!!!

"water is the Sierra's leading export, surpassing logging,"

No kidding!!! Especially when the dumb group putting out this crappola have killed off two family owned sawmills in El Dorado County, alone!!!

They've also killed Auburn Dam which is the only thing that would save Sacramento from the coming floods they surmise are coming. Note the stupid statement that the Consumnes is the ONLY watershed that is "unpolluted or undamaged." They say that ONLY because it is the ONLY river not dammed in the region!!!

These peckerheads NEVER STOP!!! The are more driven than Islamic Jihad!!!

At some point in the future, some genius will build a pipeline from the Mississippi to the west. If we can build an oil pipeline from Alaska, and a vast web of interstate highways that link east to west and north to south, there is no reason why the surplus water of the Mississippi could not alleviate some of the water shortages of the west.

We had excessive rain here in the east this year, while the west remained excessively dry. Environmentalists (not the extremists) could be called upon to help determine what river levels are needed to maintain navigation and wildlife habitats. Any level above a certain level could be pipelined to the west, with negotiations made at all points of release.

Such a proposition would also be helpful in preventing the loss of property due to the periodic flooding of the fools that built their homes in the floodplains of the Mississippi.
