Doyle urges legislation requiring schools to offer breakfast The Associated Press Published October 17, 2003 MONONA, Wis. - Gov. Jim Doyle urged lawmakers Friday to approve legislation that would require all Wisconsin schools to participate in the federal school breakfast program. Wisconsin ranks last in the nation in school breakfast participation. The federal program reimburses schools that offer free and reduced priced meals for students. Doyle said the legislation is needed because only 44 percent of Wisconsin's 2,471 public and private schools and residential childcare facilities with lunch programs also have breakfast programs. "We are failing our kids and failing them miserably," Doyle said at Maywood Elementary School in a Madison suburb. There is no legislation currently pending that would require schools to offer breakfast. Doyle urged lawmakers to craft such a bill and take it up quickly. He said the legislation would present minimal costs to school districts because the federal government picks up the majority of the expenses. Doyle said breakfast helps kids do better in school.

They make it sound more & more like something from the soviet era where all the kiddies march in niuce little rows in their nice little uniforms & eat in perfect squares (ala bootcamp) and spout the party line on command.

Scarier by the minute!!

Doyle said breakfast helps kids do better in school.

If that breakfast is served by parents who take an active part in their children's upbringing and education.

That's what he should be telling the parents who can't at least provide a box of cereal & some milk for their kids.

Doyle: "Yes, I have heard of parents. They are pesky busybodies interfering with our meal programs and indoctrination camps. The children should be turned over to the state at age five for raising in a proper manner."

Five years old is a little late. Hillary and her friend Marian Wright Edelman should be at the end of each delivery table ready to grab the baby as soon as it pops out.

Yes --- 5 years is too late --- that's why Head Start begins at age 3. Strangely enough many of those mothers love it --- then they can head to the mall all day to shop or watch their television without having kids bothering them.

They'd be doing partial birth abortions though instead --- find someone else.

It's been a long time since I've been in your state, so excuse my ignorance. Does the WI constitution allow for a recall of this clown doyle?

They would encourage partial birth abortions for mothers who read Free Republic, not that they'd get anywhere.

They would prefer the babies of women who are not well informed about anything -- plenty of those.

A few years back My wife took a part time job with Head Start. Cleaning up after the “ class” For $5.00/hr. For a short time.
Get this! They would pay the mothers $15.00 to bring there brats in. Plus! They would provide coffee & donuts for them!

What do you mean “ $15/ hr Taking care of there own kids” There kids are in the class!
There butts just get bigger as they sit on them eaten donuts. And you don’t think they would ever be asked to clean up after there own kids!
