[history]
October 18, 2003 -- French President Jacques Chirac blocked the European Union from condemning Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad's tirade that "Jews rule the world by proxy." Other European leaders drafted a resolution denouncing the remarks as "false" and "offensive" - but Chirac nixed the proposal yesterday, saying there was no place in an EU summit for such a declaration.

It is amazing how the same thing can be presented in a different manner by different media. The same situation is titled in the article below:
Chirac leads Europe in condemning Mahathir's Jew remarks Chirac didn't argue on the content, he just said that there was no place for such a statement from the EU with all other leaders , except the Netherlands, aggreeing. The NY Post has been violently criticizing every single move of the French President for the past 6 months, so this doesn't come as a surprise to me.

It just says that he objected but gives no quote. To me the headline gives him more credit then he deserves.
So again I ask the same question.
"Well then Jacques, where would such a place be?"
To: DanDan
BS. I also found the article headlined "Chirac Leads EU Condemnation..."
There is absolutely NOTHING in that article to support the headline. An accurate headline would be "Chirac Frustrates EU Condemnation".
It's amazing how deceptive headlines in different media are latched onto by people with an agenda.

...but Chirac nixed the proposal yesterday, saying there was no place in an EU summit for such a declaration. "No controlling legal authority"
"Censure and move on..."
What a spineless creature he is.

Well, how about in a personal letter to Malaysia's prime minister?
Chirac condemns Malaysian PM
From a correspondent in Paris
October 20, 2003
PRESIDENT Jacques Chirac sent an unusually frank letter today to Malaysia's prime minister personally condemning Mahathir Mohamad's comments last week that Jews "rule the world by proxy".
"Your remarks on the rule of Jews gave rise to very strong disapproval in France and in the world," said the letter. It added: "These remarks can only be condemned by all who preserve the memory of the Holocaust."
Numerous nations and the European Union have condemned the remarks on Thursday by Mahathir who said Jews "rule the world by proxy" and suggested that Jews get "others to fight and die for them".
However, France came back with force today after reports in Malaysian newspapers that Mahathir had expressed his gratitude to the French president for his "understanding" of Mahathir's speech, given at the opening of the 57-nation Organisation of the Islamic Conference.
"I never thought the Europeans would be against me," the New Sunday Times quoted Mahathir as saying. "I can't understand them. I'm glad that Chirac at least understands. I would like to thank him publicly."

Mahathir who said Jews "rule the world by proxy" and suggested that Jews get "others to fight and die for them". Well if they do, they are sure doing a lousy job of getting Washington to unmanacle Israel from its golden chains.

I'd say too little too late as in 3 days too late. This is just CYA after the fact.
