Irate Senator Gets His Money Back Bank, Blasted as 'Stupid,' Replaces $4,000 Stolen From Wife By Tom Jackman Washington Post Staff Writer Saturday, October 18, 2003; Page B01
The day after his wife was abducted and forced to withdraw cash from a McLean bank, Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.) called the branch manager and chastised her for the bank's "stupid" actions during the robbery and soon was refunded the $4,000 that was stolen, three Wachovia employees said.
The branch manager, Parisa Davoudian, said Gregg hung up on her after demanding to speak to a higher-ranking Wachovia Bank official. Davoudian and two of her employees, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that a customer who was robbed of her own money, as Gregg's wife was, typically would not be entitled to a refund. They also said that Wachovia officials had decided before the senator's inquiry that the robbery was a customer loss and not a bank loss.

So let me get this straight, Gregg can call a bank, abuse the bank's employees and get the bank to reverse their written policies on robbery cases? Am I following this correctly here or am I missing something? I'd like to see the average Joe try this stunt. I don't care how 'R' this SOB is, I'd run this arrogant mofo and the horse he rode in on out on a rail during the next election.

Irate Senator Gets His Money BackWashington Post - 4 hours ago... Bank employees found Gregg and reassured her, and one teller dialed 911.
The teller said, "She was so composed. I was so impressed with her.". ...

The teller said, "She was so composed. I was so impressed with her."I was impressed by that too, but it doesn't excuse his behavior.

Take a look at the laws voted in by him and the other idiots we elect and you'll see that they exempt themselves from them.
So why expect him to act any different in this case?
And they get to vote on their own pay raises.

Sounds like Mrs Gregg does not deserve Mr Gregg.
I wonder if the Washington Post would have printed the identical story if Gregg had a (D) behind his name?

Just yesterday I heard a caller to the Clark Howard Show relate a similar story.
The caller withdrew some cash and while standing at the teller's counter two robbers walked in.
Long and short of it.. They took his money.
The bank told him, "sorry, our insurance doesn't cover your loss".

Senator Gets Stupid Bank Policy Changed
Bank Replaces $4,000 Stolen From Wife
Saturday, October 18, 2003; Front Page, above the fold
The day after his wife was abducted and forced to withdraw cash from a McLean bank, Sen. Judd Gregg (D-N.H.) called the branch manager and negotiated a policy change due to the bank's stupid actions during the robbery. He was soon refunded the $4,000 that was stolen, three Wachovia employees said.
Citing the impact such a stupid policy had on women and minorities, Gregg prevailed in getting the policy changed. The bank, which made a profit of $340 billion last year, paid virtually no taxes on the profits.

If theat happened to me I would be pretty pissed.
The only difference is not getting my money back, and being escorted out be security.

If the ATM was on Bank property, she is entitled to prompt re-imbursement...it is the same as though she were in the bank during a hold-up and was relieved of her cash....she would be entitled to re-imbursement of her cash...the bank has a duty to protect...as usual with the press concerning republican-oriented stories, there is less to this than meets the eye.
