A lot happened in Iraq and in the 2004 Democratic Presidental Nomination battle this weekend, but it is all going to be politically overshadowed by the economic growth numbers due Thursday.
When the Gross Domestic Product for the July September quarter is announced Thursday, it is expected to show that the economy barreled forward at a rate of 6 or perhaps even 7%--a performance unmatched since the glory days of the 1990's internet economic boom..
Although growth is likely to slow somewhat between now and the end of this year, most analysts think it will be strong enough to ensure a second half growth rate of 5%.
Point is clear: growth numbers like these (even with balky job numbers) are going to take major sting out of the Democratic attacks.

performance unmatched since the glory days of the 1990's internet economic boomVery, very impressive considering what the hi tech industry is doing right now, and considering that it alone drove the market in the 90s.
Wonder what it would have done in the 90s if we had a quality President like Bush during that time. Clinton did what he could to tank it. Imagine where we would be now.
Thank God for GW.

I thought thaty tax cuts for working families didn't work economically? (lol)

Yep, tha tax cuts ruined the economy.
Oh and we forgot what all the people (GOP and Dems) were saying in opposing Bush going into Iraq: "Fuel prices will skyrocket! Oil barrel prices will double!"
Last I checked they were below where they were prior to Operation Enduring Freedom.

Don't celebrate too soon;
everybody claims credit for good news. Just watch the Dims line up to tell how they made this happen because they forced the administration to toe the line of "fiscal responsibility."
It's in their genes, y'know.
To: hutton
It's good to see it finally confirmed. How much will the press try to suppress this? Page 27 in a two-inch column?
