[history]
In a little-noticed provision of his initial budget proposal, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is asking the Legislature to deny welfare recipients a cost-of-living increase that would have been triggered by his rolling back of the state car tax.
The proposal came to light Wednesday as lawmakers started asking questions about the budget package Schwarzenegger unveiled the day before and held a strained first meeting with the governor's finance director.

Am I to understand this correctly: the state foregoes unreasonable and unwarranted car taxes, but the Dimbulb state legislators have tied lowered car taxes to HIGHER welfare benefits and now want "their" share of the taxpayer money? How incredibly stupid! This is outrageous!

Democrats actions prove they don't respect other people's feelings as shown here by how they 1) ran overtime thus setting back the meeting in the first place 2) asking her to stand when she wasn't feeling well and 3) showing contempt for her trying to keep her appts on time when it is clear they cannot do so themselves! I hope California voters are paying attention and taking names of these a#$$%holes.!

"I was there," Burton said. In a hearing Wednesday of the Assembly Budget Committee, Legislative Analyst Elizabeth Hill said the $95 million could be covered with a reserve of federal funds in the CalWORKS program. Old deals don't count , Mr. Burton!

It would be alot easier for us to do so if the media would identify the culprits. The reposrters are in the room- the voters are not. We get VERY filtered information all the time.
I do know that Jackie Goldberg- Socialist who has never found a picket she doesn't want to pick- was I believe the chairperson of the committee. She was grousing the most about how abruptly Donna left the meeting. This post today is the first information I have found that the committee kept Donna wating for over an hour.
Thanks for the heads up.

Someone should email Gov. Arnold and let him know there is a very simple remedy for this budget. 47% illegals are receiving some form of public aid, wheter it is money, food stamps or medical. Deport them, voila!

Denying welfare recipients their cost-of-living increase isn't one of them, said Senate President Pro Tem john Burton, D-San Francisco. No one else gets an automatic "cost-of-living" increase handed to them --- certainly not the working people. Why do the welfare moochers think they're entitled to increases? We need to be phasing them out altogether --- if they want more things, they need to learn to work for them.
