[history]
Nearly a year after a congressional panel recommended a new structure for the intelligence community to prevent a repeat of the September 11 attacks, the reform movement has lost momentum and may be stalled altogether until after next year's presidential election.

Aye! Congresscritters, get it DONE! This is BS - our intelligence community needs to get completely on track, and all this posturing in the legislature is stupid.

"We don't want to address it in a hostile atmosphere," he said. Oh good grief, quit pointing fingers like little children and do your danged job! The past is gone, the conclusion is that the FBI/CIA failed miserably, now let's get busy and revamp the system to avoid future attacks (IMHO, fire 'em all and start over)! Even the Dems said Saddam had WMD during the Clinton Administration, therefore, Bush misled no one and whether the intelligence was at fault has yet to be determined (still need to look in Bekkaa Valley). This is so f-ing ridiculous!

This needs to be highlighted in the next campaign as an example (amoung many others) of how the Dems can't be trusted to put the Nation ahead of partisan interests.
Hell, the whole reason we're HERE now is because Terrorism "never showed up in the polls" during the Clinton administration.
Remember Albright admitting to Ritter that Clinton wanted to keep Iraq simmering, to bring to boil when he needed an issue to distract from domestic problems.
Same pattern, same peeps. Nice legacy. Thanks Bill.

It may not look like it, but ol' Abe is smiling for the ping!
As for the post, I am so tired over political posturing taking on more importance than national security. I guess there is simply no room for bipartisan cooperation - even if our society depends upon it. Many will say that each party is equally at fault. However, when you hear the rhetoric of the democratic presidential candidates, read the strategy memo of the minority party to use the Joint Intelligence Committee to topple the President, or listen to Gore or Hillary say that we were wrong to engage the WOT in Iraq, it becomes clear that the dems are not interested in national security. And then they have the gall to complain about people calling them unpatriotic. What an outrage!
