Does this come under the journalisim rules of "man bites dog", or "dog bites man"?

It is excellent news. But, do the Texas or Federal courts get a say?

This has some folks contemplating the upcoming election, namely M. Frost whose district is being done away with. Hmmmm .... Heard he might be looking to the 26th to run.

I believe the courts still have the final call, but the DOJ's determination virtually guarantees the result.

Yes. The three-judge Federal panel has scheduled closing arguments for Tuesday morning to give the Justice Department time to rule.

The good news: it is a GOP-friendly panel, and another court ruled just today that the Texas Legislature can, according to the Texas Constitution, redistrict any time it wants.

I'd put a large wager on this map receiving approval of the judges.

Rick Perry's going to get a big boost out of this for sticking to his guns and forcing this through the Legislature.

I don't think Bush would have done it.
