There may be some truth to that. I smoked cigarettes for 30 years, having quit this past August. Never had allergies in my life. Now I am constantly congested, surviving on Flonase and Tylenol allergy meds. If it doesn't pass soon, I may revert to smoking to protect my delicate mucous membranes!
